I agree Bonne's value will have increased and rightly so. We'd be looking for more than the £1-2m we spent on him.

The new American owners of Ipswich pledged to invest so we'll see if they put their money where their mouth is. If they did it would, of course, be hugely welcome by the tractorboys. Could be a win win deal all round.

Agree, as long as we acquire/ have the funds to source a replacement.

We need a defensive midfielder, a winger - Bowler impressed me - and I'd get Bonne back asap - if Ipswich make an acceptable offer that's up to the club, but if he came back full of confidence -- and did well for us?

Only caveat being I guess many fly in L1 and don't manage the next level I guess, plus he's a local up there so maybe fancies being in his home town as it were - that's certainly the impression I got when hearing him on the radio the other week.

We need someone like Osayi-Samuel up front.
Agree he had to go but our front line with him would sole most issues.

Silly Boy just had to wait six months/year-it was that obvious

There will, as ever, be quite a gap between what we're perceived as needing despite being sixth in the league, and what we'll be able to afford.

Do you think we can get Virgil van Dijk for £1500 a week, Clive? He's sort of done it all at Liverpool. Surely we must be on his radar? Has he gone for a top 6 finish in the Championship yet?

Never knowingly right.

We're decent, but we need some pace at the back. Whether we have it with a player within the club or have to go outside, I think it would be a real game changer.

I'd sell Bonne. He's obviously very comfortable in Ipswich, his form changed overnight even taking into account the drop in division. I think he's prepared to put in a shift for his home town that we'll rarely see in a hooped shirt.

Shodipo? I think that discussion is done to a crisp. Zero chance he'll put on a Rangers shirt again.

Personally think since the fans been back, the performance levels of Dieng have been amazingly inconsistent and we not got any other tried and tested replacements amongst any of our alternative goalkeeping options.

Think also, Seny, gets less criticism than potentially other ex keepers have, as he does exude calm and a sense of all is well, even when it hasn't been.

It would have been extremely tough to match up to last season as he was outstanding but unfortunately this season has shown himself to just be a mere mortal.

An out and out winger would be on my shopping list but yes as said think there will be minimal change until the end of the season when we will be readjusting our squad to cope with its impending new premier league campaign !!!!!!

1 or 2 younger Prem players in on loan, just as cover for injuries and Chair going to African Nations. Would be nice to have some genuine pace in the side to bring on from the bench.

I can only see us buying a player for the first team if we sell one, maybe lose Gray and bring back Bonne but that's unlikely. I do think there's a good argument that Bonne would be more energetic and do a similar job to Gray for cheaper but it will depend on what we can do within the contracts we've signed for the loans.

I would expect that the club might bring in some young players for the reserves with potential for future development if they're available cheap and we can fit it within the budget. But that's more for long term strategy than securing a playoff place.

I don't think there's any point bringing in loan players. If we do reach the play offs and miraculously do get promoted it would mean we would be having to replace even more players to have any chance of survival in the PL. We're going to have to make at least 5 signings as it is.
Better off trying to sign a couple of decent wide defensive players whose contracts are up in the summer

injuries are happening, suspensions will kick in, i am not anti strengthening if we get the right player, who will fit in, not be a prima donna and do the job we need!
whether it;s a buy or loan, most likely, or 2 then whatever to get a p/off spot.
just dont want what happened before when new players ballsed us up.

I nearly used 'this' for this post. But then again we do have a responsibility to see what's possible if he did come back. So I'd say'this' but also 'that'.

And I'm not looking to put in an early entry for Kunt of the Week, but the turnaround in opinion of him on here since he dropped down a division and started scoring seems to border on amnesia.

Playerwise I think we need one RB - one of those Kyle Walker loan situations would be nice.

We don’t want to be doing another “Supermarket Sweep” if we ever get promoted again, look at what happened the last 2 times!
Go with what we’ve got unless it’s up and coming youngsters were bound to come back down again anyway.

I reckon there’s a decent chance we’ll be losing either or both of Chair (abroad to a fancy team) and Willock (to a Champ big spender) in the summer in the very likely scenario we don’t go up, so would be interesting to see what succession planning is going on. There’s nobody remotely good enough in the squad to replace either of them right now.

How do you know Wallace is shot? At least give him a chance to come back from injury first.

He will come back and be as good as ever. Then get injured again. They don't go on forever you know. Clearly, his body can no longer take Champ football.

Last year of his contract so, I cannot see us renewing him. Niko (remember him) who they never mention in loanee news anymore is to be sold, probably to LA as they play him.

Which leaves us with no LB of our own. Therefore we need to buy one in for next season. Best if we can buy one in the Jan window, bed them in and get them primed for next season.

They tried in the summer so, we know, that Warbs knows this is an area of the squad to improve.

zzzzzzzzzz

On a positive, this must be the first window I can remember that pretty well every fan hasn't posted a footballing shopping list demanding what amounts to more or less a new team.

Personally think this will be a fascinating window if we are close - have long wondered about the resources of our owners more than I have about FFP (given all they have lost, Covid, economic downturn etc, do they still have the pockets to pursue the Premiership dream if the chance arose?).

Obvs the next Kyle Walker is easier imagined than found, but there will be some serious talent rotting on Prem benches (for eg, Elanga that exciting Man U youngster we were linked with pre-season, has precisely one EFL cup appearance to his name this season - there will be lots like him available). It would hold back our own players but two really good wing backs and a pacey, assured centre half could make the difference. While I have been disappointed by Stef so far (and pleasantly surprised by Dozell) one inspirational midfielder could be the difference between play offs and not.

It all depends on depth of pockets and ambition, but personally am not expecting promotion. Think we cd well make the play offs but there are three clearly better sides than us for promotion. It would only be worth getting in loans if we really went for it as we are a long way behind Fulham, Bournemouth and (to a lesser extent) WBA IMHO.

I agree. Loans have NEVER worked in the past. Take that bunch of wasters last Jan for example or that Hugill and Wells - useless both of them

It's too early for us fans to make an assessment. We need to wait until much nearer the window and see what the fitness situation is with Wallace, the two Sams, De Wijs and others. Also see if Charlie and Steff manage to get back to last season's level and how the Gray loan develops.

We also need to assess our loanees and see if we want to recall any of them. Bettache's loan doesn't seen to be going very well. Could he stand in for Chair in January? It's interesting that he wasn't included in the squad for Oldham in the FA Cup 1st round whereas others like Masterson did play. Kelman could also play for us in the 3rd Round.

MW and the coaches will already have an idea of what is needed but without the insider knowledge, we probably need to wait at least another six games, to have a realistic idea of what's needed.

We're stretched with injuries at the moment, and still putting out a decent 11 that can win matches. That tells me the squad is good and doesn't need much changing.

I wouldn't expect any incomings, unless there's a chance to get a long term target. Like, perhaps, that English left wing back in the Netherlands , George Cox.

Looking him up I saw an article about him from yesterday, funnily enough. It includes: "Cox’s success has not gone unnoticed back home and he came close to joining QPR in the summer, taking a tour of the training ground and working out where he would live before the deal fell through at the last minute. "

I'd loan another left back if McCallum is borked for the year.

Other than that, plough on

Yeah we need a wingback if we are continuing with the 3 at the back system. Especially with McCallum out for a while and others picking up niggles/knocks.
Currently we only have Adomah/Kakay available for the RWB position and Wallace off 60 mins of an U23 games at LWB.
Would love a pacey loan who could play either LWB or RWB but I guess most of the league wants that!

At the current rate, we are going to need at least 15 left backs just to make it to the end of the season.

Forest make do with a mere 19.
