If current club is saying he’s a costly fiasco then there’s a Leeds post Risdale deal to be done.
Take over his contract with picking up X% and Rennes the balance.

If you have a player in your squad who is never going to play, is stinking up the place then ANY wage contribution from another club is a good thing IF you can’t get a fee for them.

Possible parallels with Lamptey in that he apparently moved to the UK aged 12 and started off in Ladbroke Grove. In that Lamptey is from Hillingdon originally.

I hope Stéphane is having a close look at Alemayehu during pre season with a view to him being in and around the 1st team this season. From what little I’ve seen, apart from physical stature, he’s everything that Varane is not as a midfielder. One less midfielder to buy hopefully. |

Last year we were clearly unfit for the start of the season. Blowing out our backsides after an hour, and it's utter madness to not be ready from the off and effectively, we only competed in 40 games in a 46-game season.
Get these aspects right, and our overall performance puts another 10 points on last season's total. A season in which we also didn't bother for the last six games as well!
The only other thing I guess is an issue: do we have enough experience? Losing Cook, Field, and to an extent, Hayden, is a lot of nouse to say goodbye to. QPR have always benefited and got a tune out of wizend old pros in the autumns of their careers, and while a box-to-box/disrupter midfielder might be nice, a gnarly old war horse to add a bit of heft to replace Cook's influence wouldn't go amiss. Glen Kamara is presumably the club’s answer. His arrival was apparently “teased” in error for a few seconds before being taken down.
Lots of posts saying “he doesn’t fit the model”, “he is past it” etc so quite hard to please all the fans all the time. But I agree we used to be known for getting the last bit of magic from older players and the odd one in the squad would be invaluable. | | | |

A lot will depend on injuries.
Based on last season,, both Mbengue and Kemper are likely to stay fit for most games. Obviously Mbengue will get a suspension or two. So, you need FB cover for maximum 10 games. I'm comfortable with Larkeche for LB cover. Lamptey is a unknown, given his long lust of injuries. I, along with most others, am unconvinced by Adamson. Even as cover.
In CM, Madsen and Varane are similar. If Varane plays like he did against Fiorentina and Alameyuhu can translate pre season into Championship level, do we really need more. Morgan has 30+ games under his belt and it looks like Stephan sees Chair in a CM role.
Striker cover is more questionable. Lloyd, despite his hat trick last night, looks more like a L1 striker than Championship level. Is Kolli injured, unfit, on his way out?. All 3 have been claimed by various posters. Obikwu remains a mystery. Unfortunately, that is the most expensive area for reinforcement.
I dont rule out another CM but I wont be fretting if we stick with what we have today. |  |

I’m not so sure about this argument about lack of experience in the team. Kemper has played a shedload of matches in the Dutch Eiriedivisie, Dunne has certainly got experience, so has JCS and Handsome Ronnie. In midfield Varane has had two seasons at this level now, Chair is approaching 300 games for us, Smyth has had plenty of seasons, Madsen is now 26 and has a lot of games under his belt and up front both Kone and Burrell have been around the block a few times despite their ages. Mbengue, has also had a few seasons in the Chamoionship and League One. And looking at the even younger players Morgan has now got good experience, the same with Vale, Poku and Saito.
What we have now is a very good and very talented squad that is growing together and has age on their side meaning that only selling players at good profit would necessitate getting replacements in. I feel that this is the best squad we have put together since our last relegation and with the likes of Isak and Sanyaolu and hopefully Pearman coming through we may not even have to buy those replacements. | |

Where I beg to differ is that you need someone on the bench to step in and who can give you some games if needs be. Presumably the likes of Dunne, Gorgeous, Mads, and maybe the Boy will be playing at the exact time you need added nouse on the pitch.
I don't see the other ones you've mentioned being those types of players. Sure Smyth can give you some speed, but the rest of the diddy men and Vale are not those types of players in my view.
