A really dire game today and probably the worse game I have watched in a long time.
The referee had a go at making interesting with some bizarre petty decisions.
Strange call to bring on Bennie, not sure what value he was going to add.
Crossing practice 1st thing for training on Monday as that was really poor today.

Agree t was a terrible game and the ref was beyond poor. His decision not to book a Bristol City player for throwing the ball away in the 1st half was an early sign of how bad he would be. The decision to award a free kick to Bristol City after Mbengue was jumped into was atrocious (of course the person with the flag should have flagged for a QPR foul but didn't) ,but ref then booked the QPR defender for daring to post out their error.
He blew up for so many petty fouls and non fouls when he could have let the game flow. He should be made to watch that game again to see where he went wrong. |  | | |

Possibly the worst competitive game I have ever seen in the flesh and that is going back to 1970. Certainly top ten. There might be a couple of those on that list from this season (Oxford at home being the other).
Much of the forward play from both sides looked to me like they had been watching too much Olympic Handball but without any actual attempts on goal to go with the endless lateral passing across the edge of the box. It takes two admittedly but we played into their whole "we're only here for a point and a clean sheet" narrative and just went on (and on and on) looking for chinks in their armour that were not there. Uncle Roy is simply too good at coaching a team into turning matches into miserable stalemates.
Of course on any other day one stylish cut-in from Chair and a curler into the top right and it would all be forgotten. He is still our best player by a country mile and, to use a variation on a Clive-ism, looking better the longer he doesn't get on the field.
Overall? Today was a slow-moving procession of terrible refereeing decisions and bare faced cheating on the one hand plus a complete lack of meaningful enterprise from either side on the other. Fortunately their central midfield was as tackle-adverse as ours was. I fear what the final score would have been had one of Walsh's mishaps resulted in a goal. One of those all too familiar 1-4 type home score lines. At best. At least City's disinterest spared us the aftermath of that kind of fiasco.
On the upside honourable mentions go out to the back four, Kone and Smyth who did what they needed to do pretty well with little help, no fuss and a great deal of patience given the zombie-thon that played out around them. Much credit also goes to the fans for turning up in such numbers for a 12.30 game that is on tv. [Post edited 11 Apr 20:19]

I thought Sam Morsy ran the midfield on his own . They just didn’t really have the desire to go win the game , like we didn’t .

Yeah, I didn't get that. Why not have a real go at home and open up a bit when it doesn't really matter? Or are there strict performance orders from above to get to the 60+ point mark. I don't really see what difference that makes, there were 16,000 paying punters there yesterday who deserved to have a little bit of entertainment.

I don’t think we’re used to too many dead rubbers in our time in the Championship. That said, I cannot recall a game where both sides had so little interest in playing a game of football. The intensity and tempo was non-existent. It was so boring with so little quality because no one seemed to care enough to concentrate.

This game was the perfect example of why the club need to look at bringing in a central midfielder in the summer.
As we improve more teams are going to come to Loftus Road and setup exactly like Woy did yesterday. 11 behind the ball asking us to break them down.
Without Madsen we look bereft of ideas, although credit to Morgan who was trying to get the ball going forward. We won't break the top 6 (sod 8) with midfielders like Varane, Hayden and Field. | |

Just never let the game flow - Shocking referee that I can honestly say will take some beating this season. That foul on Mbengue that he then gave to City, followed by a yellow for Mbengue was the worst decision I have seen for a long time. Even Sky commentators were gobsmacked.
Had the game been allowed to flow, particularly in the 2nd half we may have seen a more positive game of football and result. |
