Well that opening game got me nodding off nicely. VAR/the laws of the game the talking points as always. Well done FIFA. Not long before the highlights are just a reel of refereeing/VAR decisions.

Generally agree with all of that but thought Eze looked a little lost. Wasn't really moving to try and get himself in places where he could receive the ball - whether that was by instructuon or not no idea, but he didn't do himself any favors, suspect that's the last we'll see of him at this world cup
A free-flowing Eze is a thing of beauty to watch. But last night, he looked well and truly off it and his end of season displays were a bit limp. To be fair to him, MGW must be sat at home thinking, I'm better then that!
I still think Palmer should have been on the plane, despite his injuries this season, he looked like he was getting there towards the end. Bowen might not be the best, but he always looks like he wants to give it a right 'kin go. I've seen Madueke play better as well.
Either way, for my money, the nearest Gordon would have got to the plane, would have been in a baggage handling capacity.

I am a great supporter of Eze, but I think Tuchel should have taken Cole Palmer instead of him. Palmer has a more varied attacking game to open up defences, as was proved in Euro 2024, although Southgate's non risk approach in the final again came back to bite him. I do have reservations that when we come up against a real quality attacking side like the French or Spanish we will be found lacking. I hope we do go all the way and yesterday was a bit of a blip against a very well organised defensive team. Favourites for me at the moment are the French they look strong all round and with Mbappe who looks the real deal along with Olise, Dembele & Barcola are a real attacking force.

Tuchel quite rightly picked Eze as he had a very good season whereas the likes of Palmer and Foden were both way below par. If they want the best out of Eze they need to start him but of course this sadly won’t happen: he’s never been an impact sub.

these water breaks , sorry tv ad breaks are a problem, ok water carrier should be the only person on pitch, takes water to players, even 2 or 3 , that is it not the whole team come to touchline get a massage, instruction and team talk! and surely only have them in the heat not down pours and cooler temp's players always take drinks when physio comes on anyway

Newcastle must be laughing all the way to the bank selling Gordon to Barcelona for a decent profit. Always think he was overated even in his breakthrough season a few years back when he played for Everton at LR in the league cup when we beat them on penalties. I think our midfield looks unbalanced, always liked Mainoo but he looks like not even being seen, Tuchel may regret not taking Palmer as he has the ability to unlock defences through the middle. Anderson still not sure about him although decent in the air. Saka on the right and Madueke on the left would be a much better option, Saka made us a lot better when he came on and Djed Spence needs dropping. Feel Henderson selection is a waste unless he has been brought in as cover for Rice. Think Tuchel should have brought on Ivan Toney last night to rough up that Ghanian back line a bit as it was all a bit too easy for them. Lucky escape on the potential penalty as it looked like Ghana should have had one.
The problem with Anthony Gordon is he needs Sky commentators to remind everyone it's his birthday every seven or eight minutes. Take that away and it's like cutting Aslan's mane. Basically England need to play QPR live on sky* in every game of the last 64 teams.
