From the top of MU, I wasn't aware that there was a potential penalty for handball! I think I recall the crowd in SAR asking for something, but I had no idea what, or why.
To be fair, it's only the coverage from our young friends in Q (or R) block, that I know that Saito dived for his caution. Every part of the ground gives a different view as to what has really happened, but apart from those in the Upper School End, we could all go mad when Paul Smyth scored.
If Madsen had managed to score from the free kick, I doubt that many of us would have caught our intended train home. |  | |  |

This team is good enough to inject more pace, risk and imagination into their play for longer than 45 minutes simply because they’re up against it. This intensity should be the norm from the off. It may not be sustainable for 90 minutes but if we play like we did in the second half, even against better teams than PNE, we would score more, earlier. | |

Top man Clive - This first class report captures the whole event perfectly. The good, the bad and the ugly.
It has long been known that due to Loftus Road’s compact structure the noise from the stands goes downwards onto the pitch. It was bloody noisy in SAR so the decibels at pitch level in the second half must have been incredible. The fans deserve so much credit in getting behind the boys and roaring them back into the game.
Good that the Gaffer acknowledged his errors in the starting eleven but that is for another day.
Right now I am still buzzing from Paul Smyth’s wonder strike. Who would have thought we would all be so happy with a point against Preston North End.

Up in G block the Hello Hello's seemed to go on for ever, getting louder with each refrain, it was visceral and must have felt like a tsunami down there on the pitch. Very few places can do that, no other current ground I've experienced resonates like Loftus Road at those glorious moments. Not sure being 1 down after 20 second affords you the luxury of taking this for granted... I just felt the injury to Vale completely threw us and JS... the Varane replacement was strange... the 20 second brainfart by Jimmy compouned it, but the sending off completely crumbled us... then the 2nd goal
So that makes the 2nd half even more extraordinary in my view, we could easily have gone damage limitation, put it down to one of those days (which we seem to have many) and move on... but as you say this team is made of sterner stuff
Been many a year since the old girl rocked like she did... the Leeds game was close... and the Leicester one perhaps... the come back against Liverpool another... but wow it made an old man feel young again.... nearly

Totally agree that we failed to respect the opposition on Saturday in terms of the starting eleven. Made all the more baffling in light of the series of tough games, ostensibly, that we will face in October.

Even Sheff Wednesday's depleted, moth-eaten team, one that accrued the lowest ever points tally in the Championship (before the points deduction) managed to avoid defeat in nearly a third of its games last season. |  |

As that 2nd half ticked down the louder it got and it just felt inevitable that we would equalise. Pure raw emotion when we did. It was almost like the crowd forced the ball in through shear will or by pray. A spiritual moment at HQ.
Best bit about the game, though, longer term? The reaction when we equalised from the team. 8 of the players were already in position, ball on the centre circle by the time Smyth had completed his acrobatics. Great to see. | |
