Club who try to do the right thing, gets punished shocker.
Tonight’s Buildbase FA Trophy Third Round match is not going ahead.
Our visitors released the following statement this morning:
Following the decision by the FA and DCMS the club has sought further advice and will not travel to tonight’s scheduled match vs Maidstone United.
As a club our first thoughts have to be with the players, staff and officials of both teams who will be forced to play a match in Tier 4 against wider Government regulations. As a ‘non-elite’ team, we do not accept the decision of both bodies given the all the news coverage and medical expert advice given.
We will not put families and lives at stake. It’s clear that no football match outside of the top level is COVID safe. We will not demand that our players travel in separate cars across the country to a tier 4 area. We have no clear clarification on the insurance procedures and coverage either. We’ve also been truly shocked by some of the wider fan comments who have a very reckless view on COVID and its effects. But more disappointed at the collective decision that has been made.
We are not withdrawing from the competition, and believe the FA can still make a sensible decision to postpone until it is safe to play. We will await further communication from the FA.
The Football Association have since confirmed that the Stones will progress to the fourth round of the competition and will be at home to Dorking Wanderers on Saturday 16 January. |  |

You were right to an extent, St Mirren and Kilmarnock were found to have not followed the rules/guidelines towards Covid and to be responsible for 3 games to have been called off.
There have been a few other games but they were called off by the government despite Aberdeen and Celtic players flaunting the rules no penalty was made on the clubs.
Upshot of it now is St Mirren and Killie have appealed so the 3-0s have been suspended meantime and league table is showing completed games only.
Fair to say that in general supporters of other clubs don't think it's a fair resolution. |  | | |

If they do have to stop the season, then it is going to be an absolute mess. The only sensible thing to do, is to sort things out with a series of Tombola draws.
One promotion and one relegation from each division on consecutive evenings. The Premier League Champions, European spots and relegations sorted out with draws on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Every player in the league goes in the draw for the PFA player of the year - Morecombe's left-back up against Harry Kane.
They can host them on the One Show, or at 4am on the Shopping channel like the Carabo Cup draw. Get Key workers, Dion Dublin and the rest of the Homes under the Hammer gang to draw the names.
If that's not a goer, for whatever reason, then each manager has a dart board sent to them and they have to play round the clock. The one who finishes using the fewest darts, wins the league, the one using the most darts finishes bottom, all the places in between determined by the number of darts used. Massive sponsor's logo on the board, sh it loads of tension, no-one can complain it's unfair, and you could televise two managers a night on prime time. That's 10 nights of bumper audiences before you even get into the football league. I watch almost no non-Fulham football on the telly, but I would definitely tune in for Chris Wilder or Steve Bruce throwing darts for the chance to win the league. Sam Allardyce on the oche, wearing a West Brom shirt, slacks and shoes, a pint of pinot grigio in one hand, arrow in the other...who doesn't want to watch that? |  |
