Coventry's Obikwu brings familiar profile to QPR attack - Signing 16:57 - Jan 22 with 3120 viewsNorthernr

Forgive the late arrival of this piece, but it has enabled us to bring a new analyst on board.

Congratulations to Greg Spires who did great work for us for the last few years and has subsequently been hired as an opposition scout at Motherwell - not doing too badly either judging by their results.

Welcome Zac Bowles (couldn't help be a QPR fan with a name like that could he?) who has done the video clips and analysis on Obikwu for us and can be followed on the Twitter @TheLoftInsights - please give him a follow and a nice welcome.

Welcome, Obi One K. Wu, and may be the force be with you.

Poll: What d'ya expect from our last 3 holiday games (WBA(A), Norwich(H), Sheff W(H))?

Worth the wait, Clive and a great bit of analysis, Zak.

Given the paucity of our attack in recent games, the question is whether we should throw him in from the start on Saturday? It would give Wrexham something different to think about if nothing else.

From all thats written there, looks far more promising than I had initially thought.

Liked his interview too.

Thought he was one for the development team, but with all the injuries could be used sooner.

The original article on the QPR website did say "Obikwu will link up with the first-team group following Tuesday night’s game against Oxford United."

Looks a promising signing. I do like what we have been doing with these signings this season searching for young talent throughout the leagues. I was impressed by Burrell right from the start and he has certainly been a great signing for us. Kone has also been good, but not as consistent as Burrell, but expecting a lot more from him next season as he establishes himself. Be interesting to see how young Obikwu does.

One question - Brent born, but Wembley (gurning yokels) or Willesden (home of the brave)?

Him and Burrell up front together could be carnage for opposition defences

Brilliant analysis, thanks.

Apart from anything else, from his interview, it sounds like he has incredible ears...

Sounds promising. Was a bit of a left-field signing, but then so was Burrell and he's been brilliant

Assume this was a contact injury….?

“He was fantastic for us last season until the car accident.”

Thanks for the background and analysis - he looks like a good, long term signing potentially. Similarities with Burrell and some other advantages hopefully.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Thanks for the scouting report as like others I know nothing about him.
Very excited though as he looks a nightmare to defend against. I wonder if he'll start on Ssturday?

Sounds like he’ll be doing all the running behind defences that our wingers don’t do. Hope the fellas as fit as a fiddle.

He looks worth a punt, and we need him. Plenty to prove, and hopefully, therefore, lots of motivation.

I do find it amusing, though, when people say how encouraging it is when incoming players tell us they're excited/can't wait to get started/buzzing etc. etc. etc. It's what every player says, isn't it? When did we last sign a player who says in his welcome interview, 'to be honest, this club wasn't my first choice/I'm here for the money/it was my only option' etc? It's a script, people, on both sides! Like kissing the badge.

(OK, Barton confessed to the second after the fact, but you get the point.)

Very much worth a punt, as he has pace and hopefully some physicality about him. Stuff we need and pleasing to see that this now appears to be part of the player profile we are looking at after our days off trying to get tippy tappy players in.

It is scripted (pretty much like the pre and post-match interviews.....) but I think you can still learn a bit by how the player engages with the interviewer and how he says the words

Thanks so much Zack those video clips are amazing and perfect for some of us like me who struggle with all those numbers and stats but see clips clearly .
He can finish powerfully with both feet and finds himself in the right area a lot of times which bodes well for his development and our enjoyment .'
Welcome kid good luck and like someone posted keep those hamstrings loose
