Another very good performance yesterday, really cannot remember him having too many bad games. Appearance record has been solid all season and makes a nonsense of the “he has major fitness issue” chat.The post game media content shows how much he’s part of the team and loves it here.

Who was the last LB we had who you think was consistently better than RND? He’s better than Paal and Bidwell in recent memoriy. Probably Clive Wilson over 30 years ago.
If he’s available we should sign him rather than sign another new player who may or may not work out. |

So you want to sign a LB as good as RND but cheaper and younger? Thats great in an ideal world but we also need to learn our lesson that the team needs a certain number of experienced pros like Dunne, RND and Cook to play alongside the youngsters. |
I said "We need to learn the lesson - a solid LB improves this team immensely, and sign someone who fits that mould but is cheaper with a higher ceiling and a longer road to run to achieve it."
I didn't say as good as, I said fits the mould and solid. I don't think that's an outlandish thing for a scouting team to be looking for?
Our financial strategy either means we have to be aiming for notable profit (which requires youth) or to get us up, basically. I totally get experience, but RND is both under contract (fee), 26 (unlikely to get a huge fee from the championship) and on large wages (p&l). He's done well this season, but he isn't the long term answer based on the parameters we operate within

I see Esquerdinha more as an attacking wide midfielder as opposed to a left full back and his skills are more in attack than defence for me and see him getting a season long loan in League 1 or 2.
I would personally be happy with RND with Larkeche as back up next season, but if we dont sign RND, I dont see Larkeche as a number one choice and his return amd improvement is far from certain.
I think RND has been decent, but know a few on here, would rather we didnt sign him. I cant understand that thinking myself, but for me he does what is it says on the tin. Not incredible but decent enough for ourselves at this level. [Post edited 5 Apr 18:55]

QPR's last set of accounts revealed a £20.3 million loss over the previous season, totalling a loss of £83 million since 2020-21.
The club employing three specialist left backs for the senior squad would be an extravagance it surely cannot afford. The same goes for new RBs and first choice goalies unless the incumbents are sold.
The squad may be a unbalanced again next season, but it will be more experienced and hopefully fitter. So be it. We need to be real about where QPR are. | | | |

I think he is a very steady Eddie at this level and I like him a lot. He reminds me of a left back version of David Bardsley. He's not the quickest but he's got a good brain and very good feet. He's 27 later this month so if we can get him on a perm he would be good for a few years. I guess it may come down to perm wages and whether or not Larkeche can come back strongly from injury because I presume he would be the player we need to develop.
But yeah, RND would be an excellent perm signing if Utd want to sell him and we can afford him. He is clearly enjoying it here so that would point to a poss perm. |

To say he isn't very good is incredibly unfair. He's been one of our most consistent performers this year. If his wages are too high for a permanent deal to be struck then I wish him well in his career as he's always given 100%. In the games where he hasn't played we've usually been pretty hopeless. He's streets ahead of Esquardina who has only proved himself to be a liability whenever he's played. If we don't sign him, we'll need a replacement who is as capable of performing in the championship. Not a young lad with potential. | | | |

I like RND a lot, he kind of looks like Riberys long-lost cousin. But he's definitely strengthened us on the left side.
Hopefully he'll sign a 2 year contract and play with us next season.

Lee Wallace was solid and also, as was Angel Rangel.
But our best full back in recent times must have been Nico Hamaleinen closely followed by Ossie Kakay, as they were both consistently rewarded with multi year contracts !!!!!! | |

He barely played for them over the last few seasons because of injuries. He’s their JCS equivalent and has almost played more league matches for us than the previous three seasons combined at Utd.
When he did play for them this season they played him at CB and I think we can all believe that’s not his best position at all.
I think he’s been very solid this season for us and rarely dropped below a 6/7. I’m not sure I’d be paying a big salary for him though. Remember even JCS had an injury free season and that, combined with the high wages and the lack of goal involvement make me nervous. I’d definitely extend the loan but I’m not sure Sheffield Utd would go for that. |  | | |

Sam McCallum was a loanee who'd cost Norwich £3.5m that we never could have afforded for a left back. He played significantly well enough to be voted young player of the year at QPR, despite his hamstring blowing out midway through the loan, before being sold to Sheffield United for far more than we could afford. He wasn't a failure. He was out of QPR's range.
Damien Delaney played the majority of his career as a centre back, including at Palace - QPR's poor recruitment forced him to play LB. | | | |
