| West Ham v Arsenal 18:36 - May 10 with 27014 views | Westy75 | Maybe I don’t understand the rules of the game, but it’s odd that it’s a foul on Raya when you’ve got more than one Arsenal player virtually rugby tackling various West Ham players to stop them getting to the ball. Happens all the time but makes no sense that one is a foul and one isn’t. | | | | |

| West Ham v Arsenal on 21:01 - May 10 by numptydumpty | Really - a secret gooner in our midst. A six minute wait for a marginal decision. VAR means no fan can ultimately be sure in celebrating any goal and fhe delays kill a games momentum. VAR gets as many right as it does wrong and those on here appreciating it, cant understand that. It turns me off the game completely. Almost getting to be similar to the stop start games you get in the NFL. Appreciate referees get many decisions wrong but VAR has been misused dreadfully and its an awful addition to the game and sometimes gets it wrong or decisions are exceptionally marginal. Seems theres a few VAR fans on here - but sorry - not for me.... When we get it at Rangers, thats when i stop attending..... [Post edited 10 May 21:05]

It could have dire consequences if West Ham get relegated by 1 point and lose untold millions because of a disputed goal.

| West Ham v Arsenal on 20:53 - May 10 by DWQPR | Arsenal are the worst offenders when defending corners I have ever seen. Rice I don’t think ever watches the incoming ball but instead just tries to haul down or block his opposite number. Never gets penalised for it. |
Rice actually took 2 West Ham players out during that corner ,first Summerville then some other guy then managed to block that ball 5 yards deep into his own net which took serious effort to be fair. West Ham have only themselves to blame here ,striker clean through one on one with the Arsenal keeper but still managed not to score it was always going to haunt them IMO. Arsenal have all the tricks its just a shame they did not get caught with one out of their playbook that has yielded multiple goals this year. They could actually win the PL and CL now some happy ending for Eze fair play to him

I would not go It adds nothing to games It is only.meant for clear and obvious errors. The fact they take up to ten minutes to come to a decision suggest clear and obvious error they are not The fact that three West Ham players were being rugby tackled at the same timeas the BLATANT foul play on the goalkeeper. It ruins games. But we will have it in the championship and lower very very soon am sure. Thats the days i stop going regularly. Hate VAR. [Post edited 11 May 9:02]

I can’t stand VAR, ruins the game for the most part. Quite how it took six minutes to cone to that decision, albeit correct, defies belief. But as much as I don’t want VAR, a fouls a foul and this was a foul. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

No not really As said if QPR had that goal taken away in that manner and for a dubious decision , you would not be saying fair enough. If i was a religious man, i would say VAR is from the dark side.

Tend to agree but my initial thought is that it will open up a whole new can of worms with ‘encroachment’ issues etc.

The really weird thing is that Arsenal are multiple times superior to West Ham and have proved it all season. Yet here they are hanging on for dear life - pressure eh?

That’s where I am. Whatever’s happened to the multiple charges against them? It’s cheating but just in a different way so no tears for them. Besides they’re not the purest of the driven snow on the pitch either.
| West Ham v Arsenal on 03:18 - May 11 with 1870 views | Match82 | Not specific to this incident but always felt to me like cricket has it right. Yes/no/umpires decision. Best of both worlds. Let refs run the game like they used to, VAR checks but unless it's clear and obvious, refs call stands. If you take one look, from 2 different angles, and you don't see a clear reason to overturn, refs call stands. 30 seconds tops. | | | |

It could take a couple of minutes for each corner to be taken and it would just move the tugging and pulling out a bit.Professional footballers would always find a way to cheat any law change.

Spot on........some of the stuff that goes on during the game on the pitch by the players are a lot worse. Top of the bill is 'feigning injuries/pretending to be injured' (absolutely pathetic!!) & some of the refereeing rules & practises.
| West Ham v Arsenal on 06:45 - May 11 with 1798 views | WestonsuperR | Absolutely. VAR got it right, was always going to be disallowed but let down by how long it took, must have been at least 50 replays, surely this could have been decided within 1 minute? | | | |
| West Ham v Arsenal on 06:59 - May 11 with 1771 views | Clive_Anderson | Arsenal players were fouling before the foul on the goalkeeper. Also Arsenal have scored half their goals this season throwing the keeper into the net and the second it happens to them there's a 20 minute forensic analysis to disallow the goal. | | | |

| West Ham v Arsenal on 18:55 - May 10 by Westy75 | Still don’t get why it’s perfectly acceptable to hold a player round the waist to prevent them getting to the ball. Would never not be a foul outside the box, but seems it’s fine inside. Drives me mad. |
this is what boils my pish the most, the differential to fouls in the box compared to outside, along with fouls by strikers compared to defenders. corners have been a joke for years, but ultimately yesterday the keeper is being fouled twice, so it was bound to be ruled out by VAR...... i can still remember to my amazement the amount of fouls Stoke used to get away with at corners, so it's nothing new. games gone!

| West Ham v Arsenal on 08:35 - May 11 with 1590 views | Watford_Ranger | Saw Darren Cann (former top level linesman) suggest banning attacking players from being in the six yard box at corners. Not the worst idea in theory but we’ll only end up with VAR checks to see if someone’s knee was in line with the paint or not. Plus obviously 99.9% of football isn’t the Premier League or VAR’d at all so we’re pouring more rules onto a simple sport to fix problems that shouldn’t exist. Nobody questions that goal pre-VAR. The same goal has stood in games with VAR. It will never work. | | | |
| West Ham v Arsenal on 08:51 - May 11 with 1562 views | Northernr | They said at the start of the season that "mutual holding will be tolerated as long as the referee warns the players about it before the set piece is taken". I said at the time that would be carnage. You don't need new rules. Just apply the ones you've got. And also, be brave enough to give a penalty. 99 times out of 100 it's a defensive free kick. A few more penalties being awarded might focus a few minds. | | | |
