I think you mean disrespectful. But you've missed the point, which is that without a critical number of the best teams, the tournament and FIFA with it would collapse, allowing a new football body to be founded on the principles of fair play, transparency and accountability, as well as a system of governance that would prevent it becoming a personal fiefdom.

I was a bit concerned that suspending Balogun's suspension might have been the result of a corrupt deal between Trump and Infantino, but Infantino assures us that the decision was arrived at by an "independent panel", and he had no input at all into the outcome of their meeting. Hopefully we can all accept this explanation and move on. Viva FIFA.
Just like with farcically cramming South America, Europe, and Africa into WC 2030, to give Asia (Saudi) the WC in 2034, it's pretty depressing to see them not even trying to hide how they operate these days. I would absolutely love it if UEFA left FIFA. Surely there's some restriction of trade when FIFA have complete control over a multi-million-dollar business. |  |
