Kone getting a lot of stick but at least he was involved. Burrell was on for half an hour and barely touched the ball. Vale has to score that header.
Main problem I think was we were too slow. Nice passing out of defence and thru midfield - v slick - but never wanted to run in behind |

Its hard not to be disappointed after today. But was definitely a half decent performance apart from the obvious. On a better day thats a comfortable 3 nil win. Yes Bolton were very average, but they did win last week and no game in the championship is straightforward.
Good to see Madsen come on and both the new full backs who both showed elements of promise. For me Saito and Kone were disappointing today but some crisp passing and a good attitude. Adamson again performed well.
Shame we did not get the win, but overall cant really complain. Still shows lots of promise of a decent season ahead. |  |

Its hard not to be disappointed after today. But was definitely a half decent performance apart from the obvious. On a better day thats a comfortable 3 nil win. Yes Bolton were very average, but they did win last week and no game in the championship is straightforward.
Good to see Madsen come on and both the new full backs who both showed elements of promise. For me Saito and Kone were disappointing today but some crisp passing and a good attitude. Adamson again performed well.
Shame we did not get the win, but overall cant really complain. Still shows lots of promise of a decent season ahead. |

Madsen, when available, should be taking the majority of corners and offensive FKs rather than Chair. Disappointed with Poku, a bit style over substance.
Our shooting is much like our penalties, no pace and you can read them like a book. Their keeper must have been loving it, sort of game you can look good making relatively simple saves. Aim at the bloody corners.
Thought Edwards was outstanding in CDM.
Like Cirkin, not so sure about Lamptey.
Overall we were good, so not too concerned if we can smarten up the finishing. |  | | |

Very frustrating today. We need to take our chances. Bolton looked dreadful in my opinion. Not sure our keeper made a save today. Bolton keeper kept them it. We had a nailed on pen towards the end when Chair was brought down. Would have been a red as well which the ref bottled. Need to get more bodies in the box when the ball is out wide. Thought Edwards was class. Reminds me of when Rice was moved from centre back to midfield. Just seems so comfortable there. Poku was very frustrating. Kone huffed and puffed. Absolutely this. Today just seemed to mirror previous seasons, a struggle to beat a newly promoted side, plenty of opportunities but make their keeper look good with poorly connected strikes on goal. When we do have good positions a reluctance to shoot let's the opponents escape.
The excellent match report for Portsmouth suggested our three goals were rubbish in terms of the actual quality of the strikes on goal. This is true, none of them were clean strikes of the ball. Sure they went in but the shots were, if you can call them that, not clean connections and rather scuffed rather like the penalty shoot out with Millwall. Early evidence suggests we need a lot of work on shooting and get their foot through the ball.
So two home games and one own goal for us which threatens to derail our potential if forwards can't kick a football properly. I hope I am wrong but early signs suggest we may have to rely on away wins to keep us up the table in keeping with recent seasons. On paper at least, Bolton should be one of the easier home games but no goals to show for it. We should dominate at home against a side up from league 1 but troubling we could not score for all the good approach play. |  | | |

Just back, a disappointing result, we played OK, wasteful with our chances though, another day we win 2 or 3 nil. Both Vale and Kone, the two main culprits. Good to see JCS fit and playing well, Ronnie also had a great game, Cirkin looked class, one particular pass played Saito in, inch perfectly. Lamptey is clearly in need of match fitness.
