Ok, first game out the way. Now onto the second.
I see us winning this but it will be difficult.
Going for a tight 2- 1 goals from Burrell and Ronnie Edwards.
PS I'm not a fan of youtubers Thogden and his Dad who are both Bolton fans so I'm very much hoping we can beat them to rid these guys of their phoney smiles
Plus they seem like another "stoke" type of team... hopefully not as bad a PNE though.

Disappointed with the result, obviously. How many times do we have 17 attempts, 9 on target. And their keeper saves every bloody one.

Lots of positives today despite the result but there are a few negatives and things to work on.
1. Kone - Another poor game after Millwall, he looks unfit and played like someone who's not trained much, I dont know if he is carrying something, whether transfer speculation has got to him or its a loss of confidence but somethings not right
2. Burrell - I guess he still does not trust his body but looks a yard slower still than last year, did not contribute much.
3. Madsen, quite a worrying 30 mins from Madsen today dont know if he is not trusting his body or because he was pushed forward but more like the Madsen of 24/25 than the Madsen of 25/26
4. Lamptey - Small isn't he, pretty nervy which I guess is to be expected with so little football.
5. Our inability to breakdown 10 behind the ball again, poor choices in the final third and at times I thought were too slow on the ball.
However moving onto the positives
1. Ronnie and Vale were excelent in Midfield
2. Mbengue had another very good game st right back
3. Another faultless 90 mins for JCS. The entire defence did very well including Adamson
4. Cirkin, what a player he looks
5. Overall we played well with. some nice football, Chair buzzing around. Sadly that 2nd half was crying out for Kolli a player who will take a chance if given it. Though I do wish we would stop trying to walk the ball in sometimes we can take a shot outside the box |  | | |

Didn’t see or hear the game and was relying on my phone for updates, so not going to comment on individual performances.But a number of positives to take from the game
(1) Clean sheet. If you can’t win the game, don’t lose it.
(2) Introduction of Cirkin and Lamptey much earlier in the season than I expected/hoped for.
(3) Proactive substitutions by JS. They obviously didn’t produce the desired result, but he gave it a go.
(4) Dominant overall performance as befits the home team.
Obviously you have got to stick the ball in the bloody net, but it seems to me, lots to be happy about. | | | |

Poku was told to track back and support Mbengue against Gale, who was MoM against PNE and won that game for them.
So, clearly, JS's tactics were to double up on Gale and prevent him from running riot. And it worked; all Gale got from us was a Yellow and substituted.
And it worked; Bolton had nothing else, and it was a big reason why we dominated them in every area except scoring.
Lots of other teams will see that and mark Gale out of the game, so Bolton will have to come up with a plan B, or they will be in trouble. |  |

I’m not normally a fan of short corners but think we should have tried a few today. Every delivery by Chair into the area was either claimed/cleared by the keeper or headed away by their cast of extras from Land of the Giants. I know Chair is probably under orders from the coaching team but when something obviously isn’t working, try something different! [Post edited 22 Aug 19:10]

Those were GOOD corners, especially in the Second Half. Our problem is not the corner taker, it is that we only have one player in the whole team capable of attacking the ball at corners.
But as you say, try something different when we are incapable of winning headers... |  |

Have just watched Schumacher's pre-match interview with Bolton News. Very open about his players. Very positive. Loves coming to Loftus Road (was he in charge of Plymouth when, with nine men, they held us to a 0-0 draw?) More than one mention of their game plan - which sounds like putting a lot of energy into it and not letting us play- and particular mention of how to stop Ilias.

Those five touches he took after being played clean through! Christ, each was worse than the one preceding it! He wouldn’t have looked out of place in a Sunday League team. I would have much more faith in Kolli if he were put through in that situation - certainly don’t think the defender would be catching him and would definitely end in a better shot than Kone produced |  |

Kone on the other hand. Spent the entire game shaking his head at his own ineptitude. He is the weak link in this team by a long stretch. Poor touch and can’t run. That simply will not change.
Edward’s imperious in that DCM role.
Poku will cause havoc when he gets 10 games under his belt, as will Cirkin and Lamptey.

Doesn't necessarily need speed. Austin wasn't the quickest or Helgerson. We've got Burrell for speed. Kone not the quickest at the best of times but he's also a bit off pace due to injuries etc. For his role in the team, its mainly about timing the runs. | |

Pretty much how I saw Kone last season, couldn't watch yesterday as my youngest got married, but what I've seen of him this season hasn't been great. He doesn't look fit to me, hope we see a big improvement as his fitness comes. Otherwise we will need to replace. | | | |
