Social class has nothing to do with it. I’m sure the Hooray Henryrugger boys would find this as hilarious as their equally offensive songs. The trouble with this song is it offensive without any wit, or context to make it acceptable.

I think the yoof should be cut some slack. Compared to most clubs we’ve got a decent number of teenagers and slightly older following us even at the distant aways in a sport with an increasingly older average support and a good atmosphere compared to many years gone by. The guy with the ST next to mine is early 20s, does virtually every game and must spend a silly chunk of his disposable income on this football club. It’s what many of us did at that age and as songs go our support has been ‘guilty’ of worse. | | | |

The Frog & Firkin was one of the original 12 Firkin pubs in London. Then Bruce's Brewery sold the brand and they were all over the place for a while before fashions moved on and the brand disappeared.
All the pubs had a microbrewery onsite and brewed their own unique beers. Except for the lethal Dogbolter which was sold in all the Firkin pubs, and was definitely not a 'session pint'.
David Bruce tried to buy the Firkin brand back but never succeeded.
Dogbolter has been revived but I haven't tried it so can't compare it to the original

Agree with this - it's arguably very tough for young people these days and supporters under 30 are the club's future. It's great that so many commit to travelling and supporting the Rs in numbers. Good on them.

The one on the Bush was ok, they had some 2 player horror shoot 'em up that was quite fun.

The brand was bought by Allied Breweries & they certainly converted at least 50 pubs in Southern England to become a firkin (or opening new pubs that had been churches, libraries etc) . I suspect the numbers were similar in the Midlands & The North. At the time I was a junior manager for them with control of the Firkin Stocktaking team, covering Norwich to Southampton.

Strange how some beers have more effect than others of similar gravity.
Dogbolter always seemed like a shortcut to oblivion to me and surprised it was “only” 6%.

Strange chant for a player
Not prudish and Woke is too much these days, but whats Posh Spices private areas got to add to any kind of humourish chant when the aim of the chant is to give praise to a decent player.
Its not really that funny, which is how you could justify it. Sounds like a chant that pre pubescent boys might find amusing with no real ability to understand why. It is disrespectful to adult women though and just a bit weird.
And If its the younger lads that sing this, thought they would use a celebrity in their early twenties. So its quite odd too.
But i guess when analysing it, just ask any woman if they find it amusing and not degrading. Think nearly all would find it offensive.

I've got two kids, oldest is a girl, 8, youngest is a boy, 5.
They both LOVED the world cup. They both know loads of QPR songs, and have grown up wearing the kits. I've taken them to a few of the women's games and they had a brilliant time. I've offered to take them to the Development Squad when they next play at Hanwell.
They've asked me a few times if they could come to a men's first team game this season and I've said 'maybe', but I don't think I can bring myself to let them come. I just don't want either of them, but particularly my daughter, exposed to this sort of song.
I guess a lot of folk would think 'good' as they're not old enough yet, but I'm not looking to protect them from every rude word or the visceral anger of the crowd. Just the neanderthal misogyny which we can surely move past. | | | |
