| Fans forum tonight anyone going ? on 20:25 - Sep 17 by ViewFrom165 | Dunne didn't say anything in relation to Kolli, he was asked a different question. I've seen his answers be conflated with Nourry's and Stephan's alot but I don't deem them to be related. I have personally never said any exceptions need to be made for Kolli, I don't think anyone believes that. He needs to earn the right to play but how can he do that when he can't even train with the Squad? Whatever I think of his ability, I don't begrudge Alfie Lloyd (or Leon Scarlett) of their opportunities. If I had Lloyd's ability and got the opportunity to train with QPR I would run until I dropped too, but if I was Kolli and saw him and Bennie last season getting more opportunities I would be knocking on the Manager's door seeking answers. And I will continue to believe what I want, thanks for that! |
Well we will have to agree to disagree on whether Dunnes comments were in some way related to Kolli. You are again belittling Lloyd. I think that’s so unfair and unnecessary. There’s a post above saying exceptions were made for Eze, Willock, Adel. Kolli is nowhere near their level. My point was you should trust the manager and the Captain.

That was not my point. Exceptions were made for Adel, clearly. As a true one off, and only Warnock could deal with him. But both Eze and Willock (and many other flair players) did not run their ass off for us when they played for us. However, they were selected anyway, because their strengths outweighed their weaknesses. So it’s nothing to do with comparable talent and who is better than who. It’s eveything to do with flair players not typical excelling in the work rate part of the game, and different managers having different opinions. At the end of the day it’s a managers choice, in terms of what he demands. Kolli, for example, wouldn’t have played under Ainsworth, like Willock. But would have likely done for others, as his strengths are viewed differently than his weaknesses. What it doesn’t automatically mean is that Kolli has a bad attitude or is a bad egg, much like Eze and Willock weren’t either. What it does mean is he knows exactly what he needs to do walk through the door that Julian says is still open.

| Fans forum tonight anyone going ? on 23:18 - Sep 16 by bosh67 | The Kolli answer was interested because it very much came down to a 'we only want players that want to be here' type answer. That coupled with the gaffer's door is always open feels like, we tried to get Rayan a move, his 'management' didn't want those, he's not really showing us he wants to play here but failed to move on but if he changes his mind and wants to play then the door is open. I noticed that although Jimmy wasn't part of that conversation that his body language seemed to indicate that it's a place these days for people who want to sweat blood for it. Obviously Stephan is toughening up by the minute as well. I thought Nourry and Stephan were very honest and straightforward. Jimmy was Jimmy. An open book. We want to be top 6 in the first 5 minutes of the meeting. That kind of set the scene and slightly blew Nourry's more mystic previous self of we want to be improving, allowing us to come 14th type thing. I thought it actually relaxed Nourry and he kind of decided that there's no point in being guarded on most things. It was good to see. |
It always surprises me that professional sportsmen think anything less then first place is acceptable. I guess you have to be realistic of course, but surely a natural competitive drive to win is enough to spur you on for top spot. It is achievable. Anyway, I'm digressing. Just my thoughts on Kolli. Is he just a product of some pretty poor standards and management over the years at QPR. Hasnt he been here since 9 or something? I'm not trying to excuse him, if he's not putting a shift in at training, but as he's been here so long, has complacency crept in?. Maybe he should go to another club? Just a thought. Ok. To be clear, I don’t think Kolli has a bad attitude. I rate Kolli and think he’s the best finisher at the club. But I don’t like the constant belittling of Lloyd be the same people who praise Kolli. And more importantly if Kolli hasn’t trained to the level that is good enough for Stephan, then that’s Stephans decision. That doesn’t mean he has a bad attitude. But obviously Lloyd and Adamson have bust a gut to get into the squad and show what they can do. Stephan and Dunne clearly like that a lot and that’s good enough for me.

I am a big believer in Kolli’s talent and potential. But I also like Alfie Lloyd for different reasons, and not only his work rate. Lloyd definitely has something and his all round game against Cardiff he was outstanding. That game in particular made a mockery of those who say he has not touch or technique. He is streets ahead of Sinclair Armstrong on both of those counts. And he has clearly improved a lot of areas of his game in general, to add to his pace, power, and strength. Moreover, he’s been unlucky not to have more goals to his name in a QPR shirt. If he can get 1-2, a few more will follow. I view him as a very useful option. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Perfectly fine re Dunne, but I would add it's another instance of taking what someone has said to suit a certain narrative, which could then can be deemed as Club Captain having a loaded dig at a young player that's under constant scrutiny, which isn't helpful. Same way I mentioned that his comments on Lloyd and Adamson sounded like he said they're not very good but have a great work ethic, but I really don't think that was his intention. I only mentioned Lloyd because you brought him up, I'm not belittling him just because I don't think he's a particularly good Footballer. I've said multiple times I think he is useful coming off the Bench to see out games against tired Defences, but I would prefer that he didn't start a game at the expense of any other Striker at the Club because I don't see him as a Goalscoring threat. Goes without saying whenever he plays I hope he does well and proves me wrong. I've seen 1JD has brilliantly cleared up their Adel, Eze, Willock point so no need for me to comment there. Definitely no mistrust in Stephan or Dunne, but I'm unable to fully trust others on this matter because there's a track record of the truth being twisted or rewritten in their favour before. Having said that, I think overall the Club seems to be in a healthy place and was happy to hear most of what else was said yesterday.

| Fans forum tonight anyone going ? on 19:20 - Sep 17 by ViewFrom165 | As a few people replied directly to my posts I'll try and address those and do one last swoop on the Kolli situation and the takeaways on it from last night instead of spamming loads of posts individually. daveb - Kone pretty much had a full pre season despite coming off against Fiorentina, he got plenty of minutes after. Yes there seems to be some sort of knock that has troubled him, but he has been afforded the chance to play whilst clearly unfit, and it's pretty damning that he's been pulled from Matchday Squads to get to an acceptable level of fitness now. He's also continued to train with the First Team to be able show that he's getting up to speed, and not made to train away from them like Kolli has, that's where the double standards lie. Nobody is questioning Kone's attitude despite his poor condition, but you're happy to state Kolli must have an attitude problem as a reason for him not being involved. This is a narrative that's been peddled for a long time that's really unfair, unproven and unhelpful. numptydumpty - Nourry said Kolli "expressed his frustration about his lack of playing time" last season, not explicitly that he deserved more, there is a huge difference to what was said and how you have interpreted it. He then went on to say that if more minutes couldn't be guaranteed than Kolli himself may have to look at options elsewhere. If that was the case that does show some naivety from Kolli, and Stephan rightly made a point of saying he can't guarantee anyone playing time. cpgerber - Nourry said that a Loan move was an option that was considered by all parties and inroads were made in to that from both sides, not that it was a definite solution. Kolli is well within his rights to take pre season to see what options presented themselves, and not go if he didn't feel the options were right for him. My question is whilst all that was happening, why was he not taken on the Tour and then not allowed to train with the first team to prove himself fairly like everyone else was? nix - You picked apart one of my older posts for being full of assumptions and you've pretty much done the same mixed in with your own opinions based on how you view the situation with both Kolli and Kone. That's completely fine, but I respectfully disagree with most of them. I echo the sentiments in 1JD's replies to you, it's so tiring to keep seeing people say Kolli has an attitude problem, that he refused to go out on loan, that he's arrogant for not wanting to, that he's disruptive and must be a bad egg around the Squad. There is not one bit of concrete evidence to suggest he's any of those things. Your Kone V Kolli comparisons highlight exactly why Kolli would have been asking questions about his playing time, I'd be pissed off too if Kone's poor performances were given special dispensation and scrutinised in a completely different way, why should he get a free pass? A40Bosh - I agree with you that Julian spoke passionately and compassionately, but my point is that by him speaking more broadly to (rightly) not dig out Kolli publicly, it's given everyone that likes to assassinate Kolli's character the chance to keep perpetuating their narrative's about his attitude etc. I would have liked to have asked why he hasn't been allowed to train with the first team to impress and reach those standards full stop. If it was a case of his future being up in the air and he could have potentially joined a rival Championship side as rumoured then fair enough, but is he going to get a chance to reintegrate with the Squad now the windows closed? Wombat - If you had been isolated from your colleagues and staff at work and wasn't exposed to information and training methods to help you do your job properly, but were still expected to meet your targets and do your job to the highest standard, do you think you'd be capable of doing so no matter how hard you worked? Your second paragraph is made up of your own assumptions on the scenario so will just let you sit with them. I think the difference in responses to the Kolli question last night was that Nourry's felt rehearsed and a controlled narrative that he's happy to be out there. Stephan's at least felt very honest and spoken from a place of care and passion. We will probably never get to hear Kolli's side, at least not until he leaves the Club. I'm still conflicted that it's as simple as what Nourry said and that there isn't way more political stuff to the full story, but it looks like off the record snarky comments by CN and canteen spats with BW will remain in LFW folklore until someone can verify them. I hope Stephan's sincerity is truthful and his door is really open, that Kolli meets the standards he demands, and isn't made to jump through any extra hoops to prove himself that others seemingly don't have to. Just to defend myself I never said Kolli has an attitude problem, I don't know what his attitude is like but there is clearly an issue with how he trains which Marti complained about and now Julien Stephan is. That doesn't mean he's a bad egg or anything, he's not the first footballer who doesn't do it in training but is better in the real games but if he wants to get more football he clearly needs to do more in training to get in that position. Thats 2 managers in a row who have said the same thing. He either takes that on board and improves, scores goals in the dev squad team to make it hard for the manager to leave him out or he carries on as we are and nothing changes. I hope he proves people wrong and becomes a star with us. For me the Kone situation is different, that issue with his training levels was not an issue last season, he's just had a few knocks in pre season and not played well early on so has been taken out whilst they work to get him back to his best. If Kone doesn't bother in training he won't be playing either. Stephan made that pretty clear last night. | | | |

| Fans forum tonight anyone going ? on 19:19 - Sep 17 by JamesB1979 | And here we go again, belittling Lloyd again. I’m bored of the Kolli debate but why on earth does Lloyd get dragged into it. Hes done everything that’s been asked of him. I’d rather trust and believe Jimmy Dunne and what he said about Lloyd and how important that is, than any of the so-called ITK stories about other stuff regarding Kolli. The love for Kolli blinds some of you to taking the piss out of a young lad who really doesn’t deserve it. [Post edited 17 Sep 19:20]

Alfie Lloyd seems like a really nice lad, a great attitude, full of running, full of effort, I applauded him at every game he's been in the team, urged him on as he was running the ball in the corner by us at Blackburn. Really like him. He is a forward, playing mostly as a CF, who has scored two goals in 29 Championship games for QPR. He has zero assists. If he adds to either on Saturday I will cheer him on ecstatically. But writing "he's done everything asked of him" is not true. He needs to score and assist. That's a big part of his job. In comparison with Kolli, who is younger, those stats are poor. Kone is also younger and has better stats too. I won't argue with the club about fitness nor attitude, because how would I know? I was literally talking about touch and finishing. As I say, I like Alfie Lloyd very much as a character, an athlete, and don't want to hurt his (or your) feelings. But I think his touch is in my uneducated opinion not quite of the level, and not as good as the two forwards he's keeping out of the team. We were specifically talking about forwards on the books. Disagree. That's absolutely fine. All he has to do is create chances, assist and score to change my mind.

Eze also wouldn’t have made this squad, as based on his work rate alone, wouldn’t have hit the standards seemingly demanded and required. Ainsworth wouldn’t pick Willock for the same reason. Marti did and the rest is history. [Post edited 17 Sep 20:18]

Don’t think Scarlett was training with the first team squad every week last season but hes managed to get into it and play part of the last few games so not sure the argument works that Kolli can’t get fit just because he’s not training with the adults , if fitness is his issue and it normally is his biggest problem not sure how him not Traiing with the the first team squad stops him putting some extra sessions in ? Can he even go as far as do some extra sessions with a coach of his own to get fitter ? His skills seems natural his lack of fitness has blighted him since he broke into the squad what was it three seasons ago and he’s still not secured a spot even on the bench , and thats now three coaches who have pulled his fitness levels into question now , seems in your eyes no blame is to be appointed to him in any way for some reason [Post edited 18 Sep 9:53]

Eze actually went on loan and built experience, has won the prem and played for England at the world cup. Kolli has looked half decent on occasion at championship level, seemingly won't go on loan and has Chris Willock style "advice" coming from certain parties it seems. Kolli is a great example of how to become a much better player when not playing. He's also 2 years older than Lamine Yamal for those using his age as an excuse.

That point Jimmy made about how the group of young players that come to train with the First team these days no longer slow them down like they used to - I hope Warbs didn't spray his lapsang souchang everywhere. Also I think Nourry is probably blagging less than he would have in the early days - he's been learning on the job, knows more than he ever did, not at logger heads with the manager (for now). Add that to the pretty low key nature of the questions, the acknowledged improvements we've been making - I can see why he came across pretty well. I thought Willock didn't play as much for Ainsworth because he was running his contract down and the owners had decided that they were not going to use players who were leaving on a free, after this had happened to us a lot. Sometimes players are not selected because of contract issues we don't know about. For example Steve Cook was able to trigger an extension the club didn't want to hand out...

Add that to the pretty low key nature of the questions, the acknowledged improvements we've been making - I can see why he came across pretty well. How that would look in a different league position, with different questions is another matter but fair enough. |
He's getting better at these. Almost like experience on the job is quite valuable.

| Fans forum tonight anyone going ? on 22:22 - Sep 17 by TK1 | Alfie Lloyd seems like a really nice lad, a great attitude, full of running, full of effort, I applauded him at every game he's been in the team, urged him on as he was running the ball in the corner by us at Blackburn. |
It sounds like the whole squad have been told "work hard and you will get in the first team" This is a pretty clear message and it appears to be true, as the coach himself has confirmed this on a few separate occasions. Now, if one player is picked for the first team and the rest of the squad can see that he has not worked hard, then I believe this will do more damage than good. It takes a long time to change a culture in any team. The captain confirmed that there is a good spirit in the squad at the moment. Why try and change that by bending a "non-negotiable"? I'm not ITK, but it sounds like Rayan knows what he needs to do to get in the first team. I don't think its attend home and away games with the fans, I don't think that its posting on social media, I think its just as simple as listening to advice from the coach and acting on it. I'd love to see Rayan get a run in the team. He is more likely to score a goal than Lloyd, I don't think anyone would argue against that, but his reintroduction into the team needs to be done on his merit, and that sounds like attitude and application to me.
