Up against Man City in the FFS that was offside FA Cup. I prepare to stand corrected but I think Charlie is still our player but as I take as much interest in modern football players contracts and transfers as I do in mobile phone contracts I could be wrong. Either way seems like a good lad and having a decent season with a club I like so up the O’s!
Up against a central defender today in Ruben Dias who’s worth approx £75 mil … would love to see Charlie meg him.

Stating the obvious here but I've watched most of Kelman's goals this season and you can see the level of defending he's up against is definitely lower than the Championship. He usually has more time on the ball than he would get at this level and defenders make fewer mistakes in the Championship than L1.
I'm not saying we shouldn't give him a chance, but the question stands: can he make the step up?
Its not a given at all that he does well for us but he deserves a chance and let's see.
His two goals yesterday certainly weren't tap ins.
Confidence is a thing.
However come to QPR and have the confidence drained out of you.......

Richie Wellens was actually quite critical of his overall performance yesterday. Far from the finished article it seems but also says there’s an “unbelievable talent in there”.
He talks about Charlie from about 2 mins in.

Oh crikey
Just stated that quite a few on here don't want Charlie here next season and think Celar is better than him and can't understand the reluctance to give the boy a chance, especially given our current attacking resources.
That is what has been said by some
How is that having a swipe at people
All I was saying i think we should definitely give Charlie a go.
Not sure how you think that's attacking others......
I just don't agree with them..

Not sure if it's quite a few, but I am reserving judgement.
Happy to have him back and see how he goes. Caveats are it'll be a division above where he is now, and he'll be reliant on service from his team mates a lot of whom won't be here next season.

From memory, he's contracted until January 2026. Not sure if the club have an option to extend for another year so it'll be interesting to see what happens in the summer.

I should have read the whole thread before replying & others have posted the same as I did!

If he weren't contracted to us as a player, I am certain that the general consensus would have been that he is the kind of player that we should be expressing an interest in. Irrespective of the fact that the level of defending is obviously not at championship standard.
He's still managed 17 league goals, which is just one behind a £15m striker who is way too good for that league and Fulham wanted to keep as part of their 1st team squad.

Can he make the step up? That’s a great question … asked for the umpteenth time. Or should I say numpteenth time.
This thread has turned into a remake of Groundhog Day.
I know the questions about a higher level and all that and many will say "you don't get that time and space etc" For me if you've got finishing in your locker then you just need a bit of confidence and the other 10 in your team to make chances for you. I'd say League One is actually a bit tougher at times for strikers.
We paid £250k for the lad apparently. He's been here what 3 years? Thats just over a million outlay (unless the O's are picking up all his wages) and we've seen next to nothing in return. For me we either sell for £300k with a 40% sell on or give the lad five months with us next season IF we are still at this level.
I actually hope he makes it here but would question how many chances he'd get a game.
Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

“He is a goalscorer and, at just 18, has scored goals in league football already, which alerted us.
“We’ve got two good strikers at the club in Lyndon Dykes and Macauley Bonne already. Initially, Charlie will be with the Under-23s but we want him to push those two.
OK, he was signed as a development prospect but this is the first season where he has lived up to the original expectations.
Given his performances this season and our chronic lack of experienced strikers he certainly deserves a chance to show what he can do for us next season. Whether he gets that chance and can make the step up remains to be seen.

Quite a few was about three or four on one particular thread.
I guess it's dependent on how you define "quite a few"

Which genius' idea was it to go into a long championship season with only TWO strikers?
Sorry, that’s top secret information only for the selected few (i.e. the person that made the decision in the first place). Please submit your next question and we will try again.

I’m not saying that was a good decision but how many of us would have kept Kelman in August? Clearly it looks ridiculous now we have no one and he’s banging in 20 but he might have got a handful of sub appearances here and not kicked on. Bringing in one forward, for the little he briefly offered, was the issue. Kelman will lead us to League One glory next season now he knows what he’s doing.
