| Burrel out until March on 14:03 - Jan 8 by BAWHoops | Injuries happen and you can get unlucky for sure. But feels like we've contributed to this ourselves with a shocking pitch and mismanagement of Christmas which meant we couldn't rotate in our 'easiest' game of the season. If you want to be negative then Burrell missing 10-15 games until March and Poku missing 5-10 is really really bad news. If you want to be positive then Ilias Chair should be back in 3 or so games along with JCS. I don't think the sky is falling in as we have cover for Varane, Morrison, Poku and JCS. But I'm also worried that we don't really have anyone who can do what Burrell can do and will be asking a lot of Kolli and Bennie. I'd still be focusing on a 'passing' midfielder to ease the burden on Madsen who will end up going the same way if we aren't careful. |
Madsen took a pretty clattering bang on the ankle vs Wednesday and was clearly instructed he had to keep playing. Didn't look comfortable at all for the rest of the game

| Burrel out until March on 14:42 - Jan 8 by QPROslo | I think the Club said JCS had got his ankle badly kicked. Chair pulled up after delivering a cross holding his leg, like it was his hamstring but don't remember the Club providing any info on that. |
Thanks, Oslo. A kick on the angle shouldn’t be 6 weeks out, should it? Something else going on, surely. And why aren’t they saying what Chair’s injury is. He was due back over a week ago based on the last injury update.

I said a couple of days ago that it's going to be a few kids starting or on the bench. Can't see what else JS can do now with the injuries.

| Burrel out until March on 15:56 - Jan 8 with 1520 views | dmm | Burrell being out is certainly an opportunity for Kolli and Bennie. But, it's also the time for Kone to step up and start scoring again. I hope he's put firmly in the lead striker's position because he scores when he's central and in the box. Perhaps a formation change back to 4231 will be needed. | | | |

Absolutely no way that back four starts and the team coach leaves the stadium in one piece. Imagine explaining to the club captain he's being rested for Tylon Smith in a televised game against a PL team as they're playing again in six days at Stoke. JS claims he's picking his strongest side and that definitely doesn't include Adamson or Akindineli. [Post edited 8 Jan 16:23]

| Burrel out until March on 13:38 - Jan 8 by dmm | Only a single mention of Ben Williams thus far. How much blame should he shoulder for the four players lost in one game. As Danny P highlights, some players have been flogged to death. Others have hardly got going due to ongoing fitness issues. Is our performance expert worth his salt? |
I mean they realised they couldn’t have him come back after the farce of last season here and in Boston with a straight face so he failed upwards into the DOF role over the summer and thus probably gets some leeway here.

Not wanting to be funny, but that tweet is from someone called Jon Harland, not JS himself. Is Jon a journalist? He's not even got a blue tick, so until its on the Barnsley website I'll take it with a pinch of salt. Personally that injury list release and the releases to WLS hint that we may see some DS players on Sunday and the club is preparing us for that

Yeah local journo - Hounslow Herald, looks like it came from the standard pre-match press conference so would have been JS's words. Will hold him too it, no excuses not to field our best 11 senior players.

Yes, he the sports editor of the Hounslow Herald. You could google him and read the quotes he gathered directly in the presser that he shares every week. That was just one quote. I'm sure WLS were on the same presser. ps. you know the blue tick meaningless? You buy it. Dave Mc hasn't got one.

| Burrel out until March on 15:18 - Jan 8 by robith | Innit. People have had reservations with our fitness regime all season. I don't think it's outlandish for us to ask questions or raise eyebrows when a load of our players suffer a similar muscle injury. I noted at the end of the window, our fittest & sharpest players seemed to be those who hadn't pre seasoned with us (Kone, Burrell, Saito). Interesting they're now injured or looking sluggish |
This is an excellent point. Take Kone - looked sharp when we signed and bagged lots of goals. Since then he looks like he's been on my diet of beer and crisps, looks heavier and sluggish.

id say its prety easy why the club arent saying when its an obvious hamstrong injury , our fitness guru then gets flack , remember we all like to see our fav players play each week , and they do take the fans most of the time for being pretty stupid . burrell impact injury yep holding the back of his leg like he was prerry obvious it was a hamstring once again that had gone. poku another hamstring injury chair hamstring injury Have i missed anyone ? wasnt it when ollie was here and prav was physio the club worked hard on finding out why there was so many hamstring injuries at the time ?

I think you're right about Prav but think it was ACL injuries we seemed to get a lot of. I'd like to blame the pitch but Sheffield Wed. Managed to get through the conditions without 4 changes by half time, so can't be the only factor. The frustration is that these are the easier parts of the game that we should be able to rely on getting right to give the team a good chance to succeed.

its something the owners will be hopefully aware of and be asking questions , its two season now and same injuires every week , yes all clubs get them but a lot of ours are the same injuries to the same players , do we look outside the box for a solution ? if it down to williams being a very very good fitness guru for cycling not grasping the diff for a footballer and doing a one style fits all scenario ? our record of hamstring inuires wont help the long term project they are trying to achive and sell on players for profit thats for sure.

| Burrel out until March on 13:08 - Jan 8 by Beckenhamhoop | I’m confused … are we blaming the pitch or Ben Williams this week for the injuries? Just wanna get on board with the currant perceived wisdom. Thanks. Everyone was moaning about not having an injury update, now they’ve got one and it’s given them another opportunity to moan like drains. As someone recently said on this forum, ‘Misery loves company’. |
Great post, this. This injury update gives us two things to feel elated about: A) So many influential players are going to be unavailable for a significant chunk of time / games. B) That we know about it. Lastly, what we should definitely NEVER do is expect the club to have elite standards in terms of preparation, analytics and fitness in order to prevent injuries. Nor should we care about or expect something so utterly fundamental as having grass on our fu<king pitch in the vain hope that it's easier to pass the ball and run / tackle without spraining your knee. Next injury update thread I want party poppers, turbo shandies and a queue for HR in the morning. You're all miserable pricks.
