Deal done so say WLS, 4.5 million quid. Big money, big big money (for us)

Appreciate all the possible concerns about cost, recent playing time, and not getting into a poor saints team.

But sometimes players just fit certain clubs. No brainer

This. There are other days to be worried, this is a day to be happy. Great news.

A young Captain Jack Sparrow?

Any other fans questioning their sexuality right now?

Hmmm not really - all that money was blown on late 20's or early 30's players with no resale value - Edwards could easily be worth 3-4 x his fee in a couple of years, he may well not be but at least the potential is there unlike Austin, Stef, Odubajo etc

Sorry my point was that I actually think this is not part of our remit and it reminds me.of the warb spend up. I think we don't need him. We have younger ones to blood. For 4.5 mil we could have had several like burel or kone yoing but cheap.

Good punt IMO. Cook likely gone at the end of the season frees up some wages. Varane possibly on the way out. I thought Samba Diakite was the next Viera though so....there is that.

Just on the really dull topic of amortisation, does anyone know if there's a cap on how long you can amortise players fees?
I think they capped it at 5 years in the Premier League after Chelsea's antics?

Assume we are signing players on 5 year deals then

Thought that was odd. Doesn't seem a natural in front of the camera

I thought it was funny more than anything.

On a separate note, picking up on the Varane rumours do you think we might be looking to play Ronnie Royce in the defensive mid position if it becomes available, or will we stick with using him as CB?

He has said he is fully fit.

Yeah my girlfriend said he's fully fit. I didn't even know she liked football.

Never knowingly right.

Just lots of them saying he's better than the players who've been picked every week and he deserved more of a chance. They're not happy and rightly so.

It all makes me wonder if the reason Edwards has left Soton is more about a clash of personalities than his playing ability.

This is really good news.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

I disagree. Like many CBs, he won't show his best without a consistent run in the team and regular defensive partner. He showed great promise not long ago until injury - it isn't him we should be consigning to the written off pile.

Yeah this reminds me, didn't Morrison have some crazy stat last season in respect of not being in a losing team for a dozen games or so? Jack Supple klaxon please. Anyway I like him and certainly we should certainly hang onto him for the foreseeable.
