Wrexham at home all over again.
Today summed up the lack of respect we are showing to end of the season with changes for changes sake, which ultimately ended up with us finishing the game with 10 men.
Yes I do get it is giving the manager the opportunity to blood youngsters to see how they cut it but pre season friendly is the place for that.
The 1st half performance was good with some good performances from players I have been critical of in the past Bennie and Morgan.
It is was it is.
I would say the season has been typical of a middle of the table team with the good being very good and the bad being very bad.
The Madsen injury affected us badly and we naturally dipped a bit then and struggled.
Next week I would imagine will be more of the same and £43 a ticket is a joke.
Has it improved from last season….i think so!

Two full backs and one CM would suffice i think.
Keeper as well, budget dictates, but with two fully fit from Dunne/Edwards/JCS in front of the keeper we should get away with that for the time being.
As I said you can have the best starting eleven in the league but unless they are fit and their coach tactically astute you will struggle. |  | | |

This is my main concern with Stephane. Im not sure his in game management is all that it could be. His use of squad rotation in three game weeks has been, at times, puzzling, and, at worst, damaging to the team. At times he has unnecessarily flogged players to death and on other occasions rotated when it wasn’t necessary. Obviously as fans we are not privy to players suffering knocks in training, off field issues etc but on the face of it some of his decisions are not what you’d expect.
Today his substitutions of Morgan and Bennie appeared to be, as has been stated, pre determined with little or no reference to what was actually go8ng on during the game. Like Poku I don’t see the benefit of bringing back Burrell, who relies on his speed, to play at all this season following both their recent injuries, especially Poku with his hamstring record.
Thank God JCS was able to play another 90 minutes because we had no cover at CB!
Lastly, I have never rated Adamson but that move by the player that cut inside him for the winning goal would have beaten most right backs in this league. However the (loose) touch that took him into the penalty area should have been enough for him to be tackled/blocked. If you look at Varane’s statuesque defending and total absence of closing down the player I’d say Varane was more at fault for that winning goal than Adamson. [Post edited 25 Apr 20:30]

Stephan will have been advised by the director of Sporting Operations, Ben Williams, that Burrell was good to play, because that's Williams' job. Williams got it wrong, yet again, as did with Poku and with so many other decisions he's made about players' fitness.
Williams is not fit to be in his position at our club and should be sacked. [Post edited 25 Apr 20:51]

So frustrating today. We lack the killer instinct. We had so many chances. It was another game where Stephan’s in game management was so poor. It was clear the subs were pre-planned. He was being sentimental just to give certain players game time. This is the Championship. We are here to win games. I thought Adamson was abysmal again. Been such a poor end to the season. Derby bought on physicality, pace and power .
They were garbage until that point .
But we immediately started losing battles and losing the physical side of the game.
We would have done no matter who was left on, taken off or whatever .
Once again , and apologies for repeating myself , our conditioning and fitness is simply huge in the summer . It needs a big big overhaul or sooner or later we will come a cropper .

I thought for most of the game we played great, the switch to the 4-1-4-1 formation seemed to really catch them out Varane had an excellent first half, the centre back were dominatnand good on the ball, and the attacking 5 linked well and at pace. We were so wasteful in front of goal, Bennie kept electing to pass when he should have shot, Smyth kept shooting when the pass was on.
Two subs changed the game. Give Adamson his due he did at least try to pass forward today, but he was defensively terrible and positionally all over the place, he a year younger than Mbengue but the gulf between the two is huge.
Kone coming off Chair coming on and Burrell going up top alone and we lost control as we could not get the ball to stick.
I have to be honest, but Burrell had not looked right to me since coming back, no explosive pace at all and without that he is ordinary. Certainly playing within himself you have to ask should he have come back at all. That's at least 3 returnees from Hamstring injuries this year that have got injured again within a few games, and some serious questions need to be asked of the performance team here. 1 might be unlucky, 2 careless 3 something is very wrong.
If Walsh had put in as shaky performance as Naardi today there would be a 20 post thread on it already.

The stats are showing our main problem clearly: only Sheffield Wednesday (88) have conceded more goals than us — QPR are on 70, second‑worst in the Championship defensively. That’s not opinion, it is a fact. We have massive defensive problems to be adressed.
In general we are too soft, too small, too weak physically and also looks quite inexperienced as a group and other teams have clearly worked it out. Press us early (or just after half time), make it physical, aggressive, dominate the air, push our players away — it’s been paying off against us all season.
If we are honest, the only proper Championship‑level, tall, physical, dominant header of the ball we have is Jimmy Dunne. If he leaves, we have absolutely none. Edwards is good but it’s hard to expect anything durable from Clarke‑Salter and with Cook gone and Sam Field maybe not coming back, the imbalance gets even worse.
We all know that we need a new goalkeeper and RB and LB have to be seriously upgraded no more Adamson, Heverton Santos or Hämäläinen types. If Field does not return, we also need a proper DM and MC with size and experience.
This summer really has to be about adding experienced, physical leaders — big bastards who can defend, organise and compete. Until that’s fixed, it won’t matter how well we play — we’ll keep getting bullied and keep conceding far too many stupid rookie looking goals. [Post edited 25 Apr 23:17]

I've reached the point at 58 years old where my rage/ passion/love for the club has been hollowed out. I love them still but without the furnace that permeated my 20's and 30's and the cynicism that blighted my 40's.
To see us now as a tatty satellite / Vassal state state of Brentford fc doesn't enrage me, just saddens me. I can't get angry anymore, we deserve so much more, if only because we are QPR. And everything that name stands for. |  |
