With around four decades of the title going to a Glasgow club you can't expect the SPL wanting that to change. It is traditional that nobody outside of Glasgow wins the league so VAR is now a useful tool to ensure the status quo.
The reality this season is for much of it, the Old Firm have been a shambles with failed managers. Even St Mirren beat Celtic 3-1 in a cup final. What is soul destroying is despite the Glasgow teams being incompetent for much of the season allowing Hearts an 8 point lead, Celtic still won it. No doubt if O'Neil wasn't there they would not have been champions.
Hearts going so close created more interest than ever so I'd imagine the SPL would want this as more interest means more TV money etc.
And yes, no chance Celtic would have won it without O'Neill. He's done an incredible job and is masterful at dealing with the intense media up there.
He didn’t blow the whistle did he? He sets a minimum added time and there was still at least 30 seconds to go. I’d have understood totally if the Hearts bench conceded it was better for everyone to just end it given the circumstances and what some of the players had suffered during the pitch invasion but it’s surely just a straightforward lie from the ref if he’s saying he ended the game.

A few idiots got in the faces of Hearts players which was bang out of order. However the claims of assaults I've not seen any evidence of yet. I have seen a Hearts player knock a phone out of a guy's hand and stamp on it and also Shankland lashed out at a guy that, while he was being a d1ck and taunting him, didn't actually touch him.
I missed the first 10-15 mins so perhaps you know better than me but what was the 3 mins of injury time for in the first half ? I saw 1 very brief bit of treatment for a Hearts player that was 30 seconds or so . Was there any others?
Wasn't it the VAR check for the pen and the time it took to then get it taken? Would have been a bit of time for Hearts celebrating their goal too.

Would have been terrible for the FA if they'd actually let hearts win it though. There's a few more eyeballs on the league this year because it was interesting but we aren't the ones throwing money at them. Much better for the league having the most popular team win it, Celtic are 10 times more marketable than Hearts and they can get cash in

Yeah sure appreciate the game as a contest is over. Thought the Hearts players were extremely restrained in the circumstances and would have liked the big sub (who knocked the phone out of the bloke’s hand) to land a few frustrated haymakers. There’s a side topic here of performative pitch invasions and pitch invasions which are just an excuse to goad the opposition.
But it wasn’t over as in the whistle wasn’t actually blown, unless it was, but they certainly didn’t show that if it was the case. The ref/league seem to have just made that up after the event.

Well aside from whether those claims are exaggerated or not - from what I could see the Celtic fans were being aggressive towards the Hearts players, and they've got a right to defend themselves (given they have a right to be on the pitch, and the fans don't).

Again I don't condone for a second people being on the pitch, especially those who goaded Hearts players which there's absolutely no need for. Those celebrating shouldn't be there either but even we get a bit of that sometimes at QPR (despite little cause for celebration most of the time!).

If you've got fans coming onto the pitch in huge numbers clearly looking to antagonise opposition players (I didn't get the impression they were there to shake their hands and congratulate them on a fine season) then that is a particularly scary situation for them. I wonder how you or I would react in that situation?

Lash out ? He was being confronted by some absolute div and was defending himself .

It's not Celtic's first pitch Invasion this season either. Funnily enough the SFA still haven't resolved the one against Rangers back in March.
To the neutral observer they appear to get away with things that other clubs in other leagues wouldn't.
All this talk of Celtic reminds me of when we put three past them in a friendly at Loftus Road.
The only problem was they hit seven in reply .
One of the neds supporting them ran onto the pitch and planted a Scottish flag in the centre circle .

That offside goal I know it's techincally right but it felt so wrong, the guy who scored was offside but is deemed Ok as he didn't get the first pass. Very cruel on Hearts but it was lost on Wednesday with that penalty, Celtic were always going to win today
I hate that rule, because the goalscorer ,and others in similar situations, have the advantage over the defenders who have played to catch the attackers offside.
If instead of a cross, the player had shot and the rebound was put in by the goalscorer he would have been deemed offside as it would have been part of the 1st phase.
This nonsense 1st and 2nd phase rule needs to be amended.
