We did see that interview on ITV too and Wright and Neville (God I hate that bloke) were stunned at how direct he was... And huge respect to him for it
I dont think he was negative just very honest... It was a poor first half and we have to see that 2nd half played across 90 mins if we are to win this WC.
This is what teams and people that win things are like. We need more of it, not less.

Only a small sample size so far but not sure how anyone could describe France as "alright". Clearly are a "special" team, maybe best team from round one, playing a really good Senegal team but that second half once they sorted their formation was terrifying. Similarities with how an elite manager changed a game at half time in both England and France games.
A starting front four of Dembele, Doue, Mbappe and Olise is properly intimidating. And their understudies are Cherki, Barcola, Thuram, Mateta...not sure about the keeper but rest of the team are elite. Manager has already got to two WC finals, won once...they'll have to go some not get in another semi final at least.
England were great, a really good first step - USA, Argentina looked good too, but it's only one game. The England back four is a slight worry, especially at CB, they looked wobbly against a fairly toothless Croatia - I'd be fearful about them against that France four.
It'd be a good final, though.

It's unlikely we'd play France now until the final so they are not really worth worrying about, if we did get to that final we'd obviously be playing a side who can hurt us, would be the same in the semi and the quarters.
A good 5/6 teams this tournament with a chance of winning it, all very good going forward

Give credit to Ghana. They got 9 players + keeper behind the ball and defended deep and well. England didn't do enough, often enough to break them down.

Madeuke - awful player and not one I’d of taken. Forget him, he’s all pace, foreplay and zero penetration….. get him on the set of Emanuelle IV
Spence - the Robocop left back. Too laid back and never a starter ahead of Nico IMHO
Gordon - Flash “in the pan”. I didn’t enjoy his birthday for PNE and never warmed to him at Everton or Newcastle. He must’ve thought it was a hoax call when Barca rang. I’ve always been a big fan of Rashford and last two games reinforce my view.
Sadly Eze done himself no favours and looked poor when he came on. Borgan Bodgers was more of what you want.

Late games, they cant get the licence or whatever they need to show football on the tv.
Frustrating game really , Ghana parked the bus, defended well. they wasnt gonna score and made sure we didnt either . 0-0

Yeah we just weren't quick enough with the ball, and first half especially when we did work the ball wide the delivery was dreadful. Gordon and Madueke haven't done enough to keep their place for the Panama game.
Anyway Kane should have buried that chance at the end; clearly the Ghanaian witch doctor did his bit

Not sure if you saw it, but RTE had Anthony Barry the assistant coach interviewed towards the end of half time and he was really giving out about how poor England had been and listed the things they’d done wrong. They were shocked at how negative he was, particularly in public.
Kevin Doyle is great value on RTE.

I can give QPR a pass, but the best players in the country, a top manager and all the support staff should be able to come up with an effective game plan for the entirely predictable scenario of a half-decent team intent on 0-0.

I thought it was pretty poor, and they didn't have much of a plan B when passing it around in midfield failed to draw the defenders out, but I'm not all that worried going forward. Panama need to win, they'll allow more space because they can't sit 11 behind the ball and I don't think we'll play anyone as defensive as that in the knockouts, assuming we get there.
Read something somewhere that Southgates team was designed to bear bad teams but Tuchels is designed to beat good ones. That made me a little more encouraged.

McClean was a bit miffed by the non award of the Ghana penalty . He’s had a stop start season with Derry city and apparently is getting quite a bit abuse from opposing fans.
