Big strong and quick, we’ve got everything winners need going forward. What I most enjoyed was our ability to dictate the pace of the game virtually from start to finish.

England will over run France if they meet in the Semi final and todays score should have been 6-2 only for allthe superb saves from the Croation keeper fair play to him
And England have Watkins, Eze, Saka and a couple more ready to pounce when goals are required.
Most teams at domestic or International level cannot outscore their defensive mistakes but this English squad is so potent going forward the sky is the limit really |  | | |

Yup our defence needs to be quicker out, we need to not fall back in patches and we perhaps need to be more consistent with keeping the ball in the midfield.
BUT... that was really fun to watch in a way that England haven't been fun to watch in a very long time. For the opening 20 minutes of the second half, after Tuchel obviously had a blast at them, that's the first time I can remember an England team not just taking the handbrake off but flinging it out the window. But for the heroics of the Croatian keeper that really could have been 6 or 7.
If they can shore up the defence, not allow themselves to sink back in periods and play at the Prem intensity Tuchel wants them to play at then at the very least we'll be good value to watch.
We were fun to watch tonight. Mad, brilliant at times, and just really entertaining. Keep it up! |
We should probably try and sign their keeper - he’s registered at Fenerbache but I think he’s still on loan currently and has been for a while. |  |

I was generally supportive of Southgate as he got us further than we’d ever been on a few occasions but there was that frustration that he was too conservative at certain times during a game when actually the opposite was needed, the Euro Final v Italy a case in point.
Last night showed if you have a little bit of faith, a little bit of courage then just fking go for it.
Too often people are too scared to lose and it holds things back. If they have the ability, which Southgate’s squad did, let them off the leash,
Still a long way to go but that was refreshing and most importantly, enjoyable. Isn’t that what football is meant to be about.

Oh yeah, forgot about Greece! But that’s what friendlies are for, to work that stuff out and hopefully be able to judge when it’s worth doing.
As I’ve said many times in QPR match threads, no one complains about team selection, formations, tactics, substitutions etc when we win. Only when we lose (or draw after being in front) is all that pulled apart with pages and pages of opinions.

The first half defending was awful. So whatever was said by Tuch and his team was Churchillian. Hats off, they looked a team unleashed and deserved that result in the end.
We've shown our weakness, but also we see the threat we pose when on the front foot!
As we hit the heat, being able to play at that level will take some doing. So tightening up ball retention will be crucial.

Good start and hopefully lessons learned (well, the noises from the coaching staff seem to chime with what we all saw). Not surprisingly we looked so much better playing with energy and pace - the first half by and large we were so slow with the ball and movement off it. Maybe put it down to first night nerves? But nice to see a half time team talk being effective 
Always nice to be able to bring on the likes of Saka and Rashford; the latter I think should start ahead of Gordon. Saka I suppose will be a case of managing his fitness, but in any case a great impact sub to have.
Not sure why Guehi didn't start (not fully fit?) but you'd hope he will start against Ghana in place of Stones who inevitably looked a bit rusty. I wasn't sure about O'Reilly either who should have scored, but deserves another go.
Agreed about Anderson who I'd never properly watched before but he was my MOTM for his work in and out of possession. |  |

Croatia in 2004? Thought we were excellent that night. But for me World Cup is what matters. I know Euros is meant to be tougher to win but World Cup is what’s it’s all about.

Other than that it was same old, same old, toiling away with little impact and actually allowing Croatia back into the game until Rashford settled it, If Rashford hadn’t scored it would have been a VERY nervy last ten minutes. Barcelona must be wondering why they swapped Gordon for Rashford as he was anonymous. Wouldn’t pay 10 M for Anderson either based on that performance never mind 110M . If he has that much ability he should absolutely boss midfield, but failed to do so. A good win in the end but much work to do. | | | |

Yeah, Myke, don't think you can sneak Ireland in the back door with a 'Keane header!'
I totally agree on Gordon. Not seen that much of England with Gordon playing, but when I have, just do not see it myself, and I would have gone for Palmer over him. Although he looks as thick as cow dung, but when Palmer is on it, he is on it, and I think he was certainly getting there towards the end of the season.
Equally, hell of a gamble by Tuch to take Livramento, Stones, and Saka when they've had their injury issues throughout the season and right up until boarding the plane. But hey-ho, it's also about the 'right sort' in the camp and certainly two of those three have the necessaries. | |

I thought we were excellent last night and should have scored at least 3 more . Defence a bit shaky at times but that's easily fixable and would rather have that than a team who doesn't create any chances
