Nothing like the feeling of a knockout day, butterflies in stomach, can't think of anything else other than 5pm.
I know the usual club means more blah blah and it does for 90% of the year but this could be the best 19 days of our lives or just another summer depending on how the next few games go. |

Bellingham has been outstanding in the tournament so far. There aren’t many across the whole E
WC who have been better (maybe Messi, Mbappe, and one or two others). He’s a game changer and moments man.
England’s issue is the defence and central midfield need to move the ball quicker both when moving the ball from one flank to the other and when playing incisive forward passes too feet. Too often we slow it down or take an extra touch which allows players in a low block to get set or get tight. Tuchel knows this. Faster and sharper which requires bravery and technique. It’s why I like him playing Eze in central midfield. He has the tools to do it.
However, as we saw against Panama if we play 4141 and leave just one holding midfielder with both full backs pushing on, our centre halves are exposed on the counter. Rice would help give more protection.
It’s Rogers who has played himself out of contention, IMO. I’d have Eze as a sub for either Anderson or Rice (whoever is playing worse) to be used in the event we’re drawing or losing. Mainoo in the event we’re wining.
I’d still want Jones in there over one of Konsa or Guehi. Personally thought Guehi was the worse of the two against Panama.
Out wide, I’d stick with Saka and Rashford for Congo. They got into good positions but their final ball was poor. If they can improve on that, we’ll score. Score early and the tie opens up for us.
England can still be a big threat in this WC. |
I quite liked Rooneys suggestion of Mainoo ahead of Anderson for this game as he is better in tight spaces and getting shots away, I do think we'll be more wary of counter attack though so as you say it will be Rice, Bellingham and Anderson. |  | | |

I've watched enough UFC events happening in Mexico to know that if we get them in Mexico City, we'll be f**ked. The elevation means that unless you're fully acclimatised you're going to gas out quickly. I think we'll be fine tonight against DR Congo but Mexico might be tough. |  |
