Positive takes from the day only THREAD 19:22 - Feb 28 with 4512 viewsnumptydumpty

Maybe a new thread along with "just got back"

Kone, i thought was excellent today. Some very clever footwork and keeping his body shielding the ball and breaking through. No real chances for him today aparr from the goal he scored, but his overall performance today for me was very encouraging !!

Edwards was solid and although i thought JCS wasnt yet at his best, it was encouraging to see him on the pitch.

Mbengue came on too late for me but we look more in with a chance when he marauding down the wing.

Kolli and Smyth also changed the approach a little also.

Leicester and West Brom lost - doubt either of them get to 47points

Sheffield declared at two otherwise it could have been a proper hammering

Yeah, the one advantage of playing that shit, the opposition eventually take pity on you.

Sheffield Wednesday and us in one three game week, lucky bastards.

Mercifully, we are just about there, but I wouldn't be too dismissive of Pompey. About two weeks ago, they played a stronger Sheffield United team than the one yesterday with 5 or 6 changes, and they played well. Unlike us, they were unlucky to lose very late in that game: 1-0.

They also have a long list of injured players but are still able to be competitive in nearly every game since the new year whilst operating on a smaller budget than ours.

"Positive": Sam Field's performances for Norwich may mean that we receive a bigger fee
than first anticipated, because we ain't going to be getting anything remotely close to the purported figures that were being mentioned for not so super J Varane.

1: Kone. Worked hard despite being heavily strapped up. He has improvements to make but he could have sat back wuite easily in this game and didn’t. Big heart.

2: Walsh showing Varane how to pass the ball forward and create an attacking situation after Varane passed the ball backwards with all 9 other players ahead of him (ok, I did sneak in a negative there too - sorry)

3: Mbengue improved us coming on. So did Smyth to a lesser extent. Hayden played better in his short period than all of time at Southampton.

4: Morgan not accepting the fore-arm lock from behind by SU player and giving him some back.

We tried The Askew for the first time for pre match drinks. Decent boozer and lovely Guinness.

I thought Ronnie Edwards was ok and we gave him MOTM on the way home closely followed by Kone who worked his arse off and should have his name on the scoresheet if it wasn't for that killjoy linesman.

Apart from that not much else to shout about - Our formation gifted The Blades the win just as we all expected when we saw the team sheet in the pub.

I'll point you back at Steve Bould. What does he do? Answers on a postcard!

Bould steals a good living like all the back room staff. Nourry, Hoos et al are simply fleecing our clueless absentee owners. It shows throughout every part of our football club. The standards are so, so atrociously low…. Nobody is accountable. Nobody gives a shite.

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

Verane cost us the game giving the ball away to Campbell in the exact same spot he missed a stunning goal by inches a few minutes before .He needed no second chance to bury us .
Andy Sinton said "forward Johnaton " after another backwards pass from a good spot so unless he played well in the second half (lost my signal ) he had a very poor first IMO.
Glad to see the love for Kone but he is still leading the odds table to get injured next hope he can avoid that

Kone looked like he was Held together by gaffer tape judging by yesterday.
Was pretty decent yesterday.

Varane’s pass was terrible and directly led to their goal BUT why did Clark salter pass it to him there?? The pass to Varane was on when Esq had the ball but by the time salter had it Varane had been closed down so I blame him as much as Varane. I’m no fan of Varane by the way and cursed the club when we offloaded field to Norwich as I think he’s far better all round. He’s been brilliant for them, Quelle surprise. This has ended being a negative post, sorry!!

The pre (Cock Tavern, St Pancras) and post (Stewart Arms) match drinks were good.

Too many players not good enough for the level they’re playing at. Some might improve with more experience, but others aren’t going to make it.

1. Bloke slipping over during the HT game.
2. Group of I think Spanish lads starting a random chant during the 2nd half. They all had curly wigs on.
3. Got a decent parking space.
4. Can't make the Boro game.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

But we don't actually have a right back, they're all repurposed central defenders.

We don't have our own left back either, and I wouldn't be rushing to sign RND off the back of his loan either...

6 of us enjoyed a very nice pre-game lunch at a local restaurant - being advised it was one grandson's birthday, they laid on a small ice-cream cake for him and sang Happy Birthday. I agree with OP re some positive individual performances.
