| Pompey match thread on 16:56 - Dec 26 by Toast_R | Why was Frey chasing that ball loose ball, FFS. Useless |
If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times: his arms move faster than his legs! Reverse engineer the lump and we might have something. If Bennie has been scoring for the DS, then play him. Could even play Morgan wide right and move one of the wee fellas up top with Buzz.

| Pompey match thread on 17:01 - Dec 26 with 1439 views | dmm | I think we'll all take that result. A better second half but we were under par overall. Our passing today was shocking for some reason. Still, dust ourselves down and move on to the next game. Starting 11 selection will be interesting. | | | |

| Pompey match thread on 16:55 - Dec 26 by Superhoops2808 | Well - A point after that 1st half performance is better than nothing |
Indeed, but doesn't cover or excuse that impassive and embarrassing first half. The fact we managed to up our game only slightly in the second half and managed to take something out of the game makes it frustrating as if we'd played to a half decent level we could have won that potentially. As you say though, didn't lose at least

| Pompey match thread on 17:01 - Dec 26 with 1427 views | NorthantsHoop | Turned up in 2nd half, point fine by me when in 1st half looked like a usual away defeat as we were awful. Jimmy Dunne again. | | | |

In the first half, I think that the stats showed that our passing was actually worse than 'ordinary'.

Looked like Kone wasn't overly enamoured with that decision.

P.S. Having just seen the highlights, I think the match comms, Beeb and I all got it wrong. I think it was Kone. M'Bengue was stood behind him. EDIT: BBC match report sticking with M'Bengue. However, the official QPR match report states that the ball cannoned off Kone. Either way, one thing is clear. It definitely wasn't Dembele! [Post edited 26 Dec 17:50]

Actually scratch that. Just remembered I stuck a tenner on Mad Dog getting booked so that's now my biggest annoyance of the day

| Pompey match thread on 17:05 - Dec 26 with 1302 views | Juzzie | I know we’ve not won a Boxing Day away game since time began but I’ll take that. I know Portsmouth are flirting above the drop zone but we have no right to win any game and treating teams as though we do (I’m not saying we did) is how games can come unstuck. Plenty of teams dropped points today and I’ll take where we are going into the new year, with one more game of ‘25, compared to previous seasons when we were decidedly nervous. | | | |

Very happy with that after a predictably groggy first half. Well done Rangers and Our Captain. To me, that certainly feels like a win - but maybe that's part of the so-called #Standards 'mentality problem' around the club and its fanbase? For me, a contented Boxing Day. [Post edited 26 Dec 17:08]

| Pompey match thread on 17:09 - Dec 26 with 1217 views | Myke | Embarrassing performance. Made them look like 70' Brazil. I said after Leicester that we had to no longer accept 'Norwich' performances - then we produce this. Part of the blame on JS as we were back to trying to play out from the back ( on the rare occasion we had the ball) which we clearly obviously and patently (without JCS) cannot do. He has zero reason to have the hump. Thought he was back to his below average run of the mill moody performance today. First touch of a wheelie bin, didn’t monster his opponent once and as slow as rust. At least Frey looked interested when he came on for his cameo [Post edited 26 Dec 17:25]

Bennie was stripped and ready to come on at one point and then - not. Would have been better than Frey at that stage of the game I think.

Not really such a thing as 'should be winning' in the Championship. Yes we were poor first half but Pompey looked good and played well from where I was sitting. Good point and we move on.

Better second half pushed up, got Madsen on the ball and much better from Mbengue and Dembele. Really disappointing from both sub wingers. You can see why Stephan does not trust Poku yet and utterly abject from Smyth who played like a player ensuring he did not get injured for January transfer window, kept leaving Norrington-Davies exposed. Laughable cameo from Frey again. Now 58 years since we won away on Boxing Day lol [Post edited 26 Dec 17:21]

I thought it was much improved second half, which felt like another improvement at the end compared to so many final scores on this day. I wouldn't have taken Dembele off because he is so hot and cold as a player but suddenly had the ball on a string in the second half - not sure even he'd know why. He seems like the epitome of a player where the modern term 'ceiling' is very apt. Poku did well but it felt like a missed opportunity. Frey for Kone has been discussed by everyone already - and sadly quite accurately. He seems like a genuinely nice bloke but is just gone. That one where Burrell got fouled arounf the 90 min mark and was asking for it, and Frey starts waving his arms around rather than getting the ball. Schoolboy stuff is not acceptable when he is now so immobile anyway. Whatever is stopping Kolli getting played must be some serious shit. I think embarrassing is a bit much though to be honest Myke.
| Pompey match thread on 17:26 - Dec 26 with 861 views | Boston | Happy with the point. Our next two holiday fixtures may be a bit sticky, if we came away with a win and a draw I'd be delighted. | |
