Hamer did well and probably deserved a few more games. Nardi was excellent overall in his first season and fell out of favour because of the crossing thing I guess. Hayden was a solid pro and apparently well liked by the squad and a good influence. But, for some reason just couldn't get up to speed consistently in his second spell. Shame as he was the 'right sort' and only 31, but slowing down happens at different times for players.
With Cook, Hayden, Nardi and Hamer all gone I would imagine it helps with the wage bill and you would hope we look for a few seasoned narly grizzled Championship level midfielders who don't get pushed off the ball if the wind blows in another direction. |  |

The club could’ve announced all three departures on consecutive days: that would’ve have been drip feeding it.

I liked Nardi until the back end of his first season when the opposition realised his inability to move his feet off the goal line.

I think the decision on those 3 and Steve Cook is correct. However it does leave us short on the grizzled, experienced Championship players we will need to work alongside all the promising younger players.

I'll miss Nardi. If you forget about results and shit like that and just treat football as entertainment, Nardi had some of the most fun, watchable saves ever. He stopped so many otherwise very good shots.
And you'd have to be playing behind a whole other defence to actually have a good record for QPR. Imagine the pressure you're under playing behind us. Christ.

POTM then got injured, then struggled to get back in the team but was a 7/10 on average.

No, of course it is right to release Nardi and Hamer. For me, they had given up on Nardi last summer so in that case getting Hamer and not a more viable longer-term keeper was poor planning. As if Walsh didn't cut it, we would have known this situation was possible coming in to the summer. Admittedly I know nothing about transfer negotiations, but if clubs play hardball on our targets - we are going to have little leeway? We can't start next season with Walsh and Cooper, surely. |
I don't see how it makes any difference to negotiations. The idea that other clubs have us over a barrel because they're fully acquainted with our keeper situation is a touch fanciful. Almost every club will need new players during the window and most transfers at this level will be deemed necessary by the signing club. [Post edited 5 May 19:20]

It really wouldn't be difficult or expensive to improve on Nardi, Walsh and Hamer.
If we go into next year with Walsh and Cooper as our keepers then they'll deserve a pasting, but we won't. |
I agree they will have targets as they have contact with agents who will no doubt be trying to find new clubs for players on their books whose contracts are coming to an end.
I also agree that it shouldn't be difficult to improve on Nardi, Hamer and Walsh. I will be miffed if Walsh is number 1 next season. He isn't much better than the previous Joe QPR had in goal. | | | |
