Wonder where this leaves Adamson. I expected him to either go out on loan or, more likely, end up back in Oz or in the US. With Lampteys injury issues this leaves him in a limbo. Heās not progressing his career as a third choice RB but the club will probably want to keep hold of him just in case Lampteys knee doesnāt recover. Iāve never rated Adamson but this isnāt a good scenario for him. | |

Yes that makes sense to me. With maybe Lamptey playing against Southampton, Middlesbrough, West Ham etc and Amadou playing against the industrial teams and overall playing more minutes. It might work. It certainly gives us another option IF he can get fit.
I remember years ago thinking he was a great little player when he broke through at Brighton. |

It isn't a risky signing because of the free transfer status but its a gamble.
As with every season nowadays a lot of OTT reaction on social media and a potentially a lot of angry people come March because of unrealistic expectations.

When fit and with his pace, he was a top-tier RB, similar to a Cashley Cole-style player.
But lots of injuries, and now the worst one is ACL.
If, he has most of his pace retained and can stay somewhat fit (we shall have to manage him like RND), then this is an amazing signing. Please don't laugh at the back, it interrupts the people laughing at the front!
I would suspect that Fiorentina had a clause in his contract that, if he got injured, they could break the contract after the first year. And payments to Brighton, no doubt, were spread over the years based on whether he stayed at the club or not.
This is all a guess on my part, but I doubt Fiorentina would terminate the contract so early unless it would benefit them greatly. Especially as he's just coming back. I would suspect all these clauses were in the contract due to his really bad injury record prior to joining.
Of course, we are QPR who sign players with Broken legs (Rowlands), known injuries so they cannot play for the season (Vale) or who get injuries as soon as they join before even playing (Obikwu) and that list goes on.
This signing reeks of get him fit, get him games, make him look good and then sell him for Ā£2m as quickly as we can before he gets injured again. I would not be surprised if we have many break clauses in this deal, as it's super high-risk. |  |

This is the kind of signing that Iām initially really excited about because heās exceptionally talented. He had one of the best Premier League debuts I can remember for Brighton against Chelsea I think it was and looked unbelievable for a couple of years. But the more I think about it, the more I wonder, why is he here? Brighton donāt usually let players leave for Ā£6 million if they genuinely believe they still have a big future and Fiorentina have cancelled his contract. Heās really struggled with injuries, and now heās joining a team with a poor record at keeping players fit. I really hope Iām wrong, but right now it feels to me like heāll be keeping JCS and Poku company in what might be the most naturally gifted treatment room in the Championship. Personally, Iād rather sign someone with a little less talent whoās available to play 30ā40 games a season. Like I say though, I really hope I'm wrong and the gamble pays off. | | | |

Sorry to buck the trend but I find this signing laughable.
The signing of Martin Rowlands with his leg still wrapped in plaster of paris was a masterstroke so what do I know...... although he wasn't an injury prone player, bones somewhat easier to recover from and he certainly felt he had something to prove.
I don't get this "it's only wages we are risking" either.
So it's okay to have a squad place tied up and let's say Ā£5k a week (quarter of a mill a year for REDACTED years) for a resource that might never justify a pund of that? Madness.

History of long term hamstring (6 months out), Knee (7 months) and now the big daddy injury of the lot in an ACL (a year plus) and we think our clown show medical set up will sort everything out and we have a potential diamond on our hands?

Fantastic signing in my opinion.
Appreciate the comments about his injury record but no doubt in my mind if fully fit heās the first name on the team sheet given his CV and age.
I would hope a cautious approach is taken with his selection and role in the team given the frequency and intensity of games. I wouldnāt feel confident seeing him pencilled in at wingback for example given the work rate required for that role. |  | | |

If we paid a fee and this was a big position of need, I'd be inclined to say that given his relatively constant injury issues, this is not a good one.
As it's a free, with Mbengue and some basic depth at RB already here, and given that he's already got 100 plus PL appearances and is still only 25, I'm inclidned to think that this is an excellent shot to nothing signing.
If he proves the physical side he will be a superb signing and we can get him tied down on another deal, if not, he moves on. All good |  |

On paper, seems an amazing piece of business !!
However, the injury issues, scream massive red flags for me !!
Wish i was more confident, but given the fact that the club say he could be playing in September, well that's extremely doubtful, I would suggest. The club's history on players and expected dates being available, has always been massively optimistic at best, or simply a downright abuse of the truth, at worst.
More like April - if we are lucky.
Appreciate, he was great two seasons ago, but another sick note and also another mini me - the guy's a giant at five foot four. Would have preferred a younger full back with potential, but always available.
Might start a book on how many games this season he plays. I am going for ten.

This is pretty much the only response needed. I'm personally excited about Lamptey as he's been a great RB, only 25 and a very QPR-style full back.
But "best of luck, we'll see how goes" should be everyone's reaction, really. Even as a world-class cynic, am finding the misery and cynicism about QPR in some quarters really wearing this summer. Providing the midfielders we now will be signing are of a similar pedigree to the goalies and full backs, I'm excited about the squad. We'll see how it goes. | | | |

It's a bold move to take a physio department that's already getting pelters from all sides, and decide that what they really need is for the club's two biggest summer signings to come with extremely obvious injury issues.
I think this is a reasonable gamble though, particularly given that Mbengue offers us a solid option while Lamptey gets back to full fitness. Harvey Vale arrived in even worse condition, remember, and we've done such a good job of rehabilitating him that all his hair's grown back as well.
The potential upside to getting things right here is huge: there surely can't be many left-backs in the Championship who'd look at a fully fit Poku and Lamptey lining up opposite them, and feel anything other than a deep sense of dread.
Really feels like this season is going to hinge almost entirely on how many of our players we can keep fit. I hope for all our sakes that Cycling Ben's been eating his weetabix. | | | |
